Looking for the ultimate EDC folder

I like the Benchmade 940. Open or closed, it is slim and lightweight. I don't carry the Sage 2 much because it is wide, and gets in the way when I reach in my pocket for something else. If you want a lot of change left over from your $150, take a look at the Kershaw Leek or ENER-G. They fit your criteria, but aren't much to look at.

i would say a 710 too
after some use, you won't see anymore how large it is ... and you will discover all its abilities ...
the mini bone collector is smaller, but is really well built too
940/943 are good choice if you prefer lighter folters

Try a normal or super CQC7 from Emerson.

The Spyderco Stretch 2 is wonderfully universal, a very mature design. The high-end carbon-handled version is slightly over your budget if you shop around; and the FRN handled one offers good value.
It is one of Spydercos best designs ever in my opinion.

For me, the Opinel comes close to the ultimate EDC folding knife.... It cuts very well, is very light and the wooden handle feels very comfortable. I also like the traditional looks, which also makes it a sheeple friendly knife. I carry it regularly in daily life and an Opinel is always with me during hiking and camping trips. But, that's just my opinion and preferences, maybe you're more a fan of modern knives.

what about a ZT 0200? quite cheap considering what your getting, and its under your 150 mark.

EDIT: not sure how much weight/size your willing to carry in yor pocket, just saw that part, what do you wear on a daily basis, slacks? perhaps the ZT's not the best choice, jeans, no problem.

Alright folks,

Got an itch for a new knife. Looking for the ultimate EDC folder.

I care about functionality, weight, ergonomics, fit and finish, workmanship. I do not care about fanciness, or exotic materials.

I have a CRKT m16-10kz, I hate it.

I'm currently rocking an OD mini benchmade D2 griptilian.

What should I replace these two with, for my EDC blade? Looking for something I will really enjoy.

-$150 bucks or under (don't believe in wasting my money on a name like Sebenza)
-Must be comfortable in my pocket
-Blade at least 2.5 inches long

-Freq

You ask for the "Ultimate" edc and then make a BS statement like that about the Sebenza. It's hard to take you seriously.

I have you looked into the BM 707? smaller size but excellent F&F, very easy in the pocket.

You will have a hard time beating the Spyderco Stretch 2 as suggested earlier for your criteria. It packs a thinly ground blade and fine tip, so be careful with using it for hard use, but anything below that it handles extremely well.

Seriously though, I would heartily recommend the carbon fiber stretch as the ultimate EDC. I have been very impressed with ZDP-189. I thought it would stain easily but it has held up very well. The Stretch is aesthetically pleasing, very practical in size and weight for EDC, has an ideal blade length and is made of very high tech materials by one of the top knife manufacturers on the planet. It is a tough one to beat!

I think the words "ultimate EDC" and a pricetag of $150 don't go hand in hand. There ARE a lot of really nice knives available for that price, but none are as overall well rounded as a Sebenza or, say, a Bob Dozier folder. If I lost all of my knives and had $150 to spend on a new one I would likely pick up a Benchmade 940. ...or wait until the Spyderco Para 2 comes out!

Caly III is my suggestion, but for just a few dollars above your threshold you can get the Sage II. Sweet knife.

A lot good EDC though cheaper, not bad at anypoint is Kershaw Skyline. Very light, very slim and good steel, not best possible but you do everything you want with it.

Spyderko UKPK 3" blade CPMS30V with finger choil. Sure, there's no lock but you really don't need one. Great ergo's great steel, great blade profile, mean slicer.

From Benchmade, alot support seems to be in BM940 and BM943. I am looking my first Bench from either of the two or BM707. If you want ultimate EDC, do prepeare to spend $50 more.

Have a look at Fallkniven's FH9.An excellent EDC and the finish is outstanding. The Fallkniven TK4 is also worth a look.

There's no such thing as a ultimate edc ..all you can hope for is a knife that will scratch that itch temporarily ....because no sooner you'll buy one that's the be all end all and another will pop up that you have to have.

If you really need an ultimate edc buy a Swiss Army knife with all those different blades and scissors thingy things and you'll never be at a loss.

The Benchmade 940 or if you want a little bigger try to find a BM 730 Ares. Good Luck. Kevin
