By the way, are any crooks still subtle enough to pick pockets? The style these days seems to be beat someone down in the parking lot at the grocery, shopping mall, theatre or wherever and take what they want.

The US is the only country I've been to where I havent been pickpocketed. been to seoul, london, and nassau, every time I travel I switch to front pocket.

And I've lost three leather-bound pocket notebooks.

As the name implies, I perform magic. I did it quite a bit in high school but now I just do it between studying at Uni. One thing I have learned was how to pick pocket. I've done it strictly for entertainment (typically mine rather than theirs.). You can pick pretty much any pocket you want. Back, front, breast, etc. It's simply the technique. Admittedly, it would be easier to simply beat someone down and then take their stuff, but not nearly as entertaining on stage.
