Looking for wave knife

you should look in to cold steel best knifes so far! well at least i think.. no but they do have similar designs if not better

Yeah. I personally try to avoid Cold Steel. I've never been a fan, but that's just me. If you want a Waved knife and you want the original get yourself an Emerson. Emerson patented the Wave feature on folders.

Wave knife??

I started with the Spyderco Endura wave, then once I found that it worked I stepped up to the Emerson. You will not be disappointed with an Emerson.

If you're looking for waved knives, stay away from the cold steel models. They're based on friction, tearing up your pocket, rather than lightly hooking onto the seam like the Spydercos and Emersons.

and me...

Personally I like spydercos wave a lot better than emersons. It catches a lot easier and deploys fully 98% of the time. Ive tried a few emersons, and the "hook" seems to shallow to grip unless you reeeaally drag it on your pocket, which overtime will rip your pocket up bad. And out of maybe 10 tries, the emerson I tested fully deployed only maybe 3 times. (On a side note.. not a fan of the chisel grind either)

and i prefer the EKI version lol, go figure.

imho anything in the EKi line is better than most anything in the cold steel line, i dont care for really any of the cold steel folders, the few i kinda like have a imho crazy MSRP, imho the CS fixed blades are pretty good for the $$, the cheaper CS folders are all FRN which i dont care for and the others are gen'ly more expensive than i think they are worth.

If you really like the whole wave thing, perhaps you might want to look into "the zip-tie trick." Only works with knives that have tip-up carry and deploy with a hole. Either way, it's worth a look around.

Personally, I think the best waved knives are the Emersons & Spydercos. Unfortunately, I think Spyderco only makes a waved Delica, Endura, & P'Kal (If it's still in production). However, their other models lends itself to being waved, too, because their blade spines tend to stick out more than most other knives because of their thumb-holes.

Not that I recommend doing it, but my best waved knife is a waved Spydie Yojimbo. I got it that way & it works great. The P'Kal's another great waved knife, but perhaps not as utility oriented. I think the "secret" to a great opening waved knife, is to have the waved face forward in the pocket (Like on the P'Kal). I noticed that I didn't have to pull down & back, but just a little forward as I drew it out of my pocket. The angle of my front pants pocket aids the wave opening process, IMHO. Obviously, your observations may vary. Because Emersons are only set-up for RH carry, you really can't play around with that method on them.

Good luck with whatever you get.

Since Ernie Emerson invented the wave, perhaps you oughta look at HIS knives.

Send me your tip up knives :D

There are some nice Waved knives available. Take your time. Black Bear Knives uses a Ball Opening wave design. I like it as the Ball is easier on the pocket.
Google them.
