Looking for wave knife

I can reliably open my Boker M-type and Trance by 'waving' it. The thumbstud catches on the pocket, so the angle at which you take out the knife is different than a normal wave.

I managed to keep the spine at full thickness on those :D

Just get an Emerson. It will last you a life time. That said, I don't think you want to be tempted by the Greatness of Ernie's Custom's! :D

i love my Waved D4, but my overall favorite waved knife has to be my 550HG griptillian with a zip tie on the thumbhole:D

Charlie.. you forgot the pic of the waved Crossbill!

Emerson Knives will last a lifetime... but so will a Spyderco ;)

I won't have a pic of that until one of you guys send me one to wave ;)

I was ok with your work Charlie Mike, until I saw the Police, then all my hair fell out, my eyes watered, and I lost control of my bowels...

The Cara cara looks real good though.

;)
I was ok with your posts, Zen.... until I pictured that

:D

Charlie Mike - every time i see your post I always wonder what the corners of your pockets must look like. I know my Delica Wave and Endura wave have done some damage to my good jeans.

My pockets still look great. 90% of the time, I'm wearing Kirkland (Costco brand) jeans. Great jeans for $12 and durable too.

yo charlie, think you could grind down a 550HG grip so i can see what it looks like? i got a zip tie on mine right now but i was thinkin about getting one just to tinker on :)

Shouldn't be a problem.

That second cara cara in the aftermarket wave mod pics is awsome. Might have to do that myself.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Right now I live in an apartment with no garage so I'm limited to a Dremel. Soon I'd like to upgrade to a Foredom and a 1x30 belt grinder. Not trying to toot my own horn here, but I must admit that is some nice work for just a Dremel.

I didn't realize that all you were using was a Dremel.

Waves aren't my cup o' tea and your Police scares me just a bit, but for just using a Dremel, you're doing great work. Especially if you still have all your fingers.

What cutting wheels/attachments are you using and what speeds are you running on the Dremel?

The only time I allow my Dremel close to a knife is for polishing/buffing scales and bolsters. Dremel doesn't touch the blade unless I've got it in a vice and even then I go at low speed.

I use the 1/32" cut offs, sometimes the fiber reinforced cut offs. For my finishing I use 1/2" and 1/4" sanding drums @ 60 grit. I'm not sure what the exact speed is, I do my cut off wheels at 7-8 out of a 1-10. Sanding drums at a 4-6. I don't have a vice, so I'm Dremeling with one hand and holding the knife against my patio balcony (2x4) with my other. I get hand cramps something awful. I guess primitive would be an understatement when describing my knife shop.

edit to add.... pics of all my fingers ;)

Here is a pic of my work area when I did the first Cara Cara.

That is a park style bench in the backyard of my ex's mom's place. Don't want to steal STR's thunder... But I am a backyard knife mechanic :D

The Dremel in that pic was a single speed (30,000 rpm) Craftsman.
