Looking for WC Trapper

I recently have started EDC more traditional slipjoints, and enjoying them greatly :)

Through trying them out and seeing what I like, I have decided what I want in a traditional is a full size (around 4" closed) Wharncliffe Trapper in high carbon steel (like Case's CV aka 1095). By WC Trapper, I mean a clip point blade (like normal Case Trapper) and a WC or sheepsfoot blade.

It seems this is a rare or non-existant thing (at least for a reasonable price).

Would anyone here happen to know if anyplace reputable might have some in stock? I am pretty flexible on the handle material (not yellow delrin though if possible). But quality-wise I would like at least Case level quality if not better.

Thanks in advance :)

GEC’s 48 Improved Trapper is exactly what you’re looking for. They’re out there, you see a lot of them up for sale on the exchange. They’re a bit pricey compared to most Case’s, though. You do seem to get better quality for the price hike.

Not so great picture, but I think it’s the only one I have that shows both blades. I much prefer the Wharncliffe myself, and the Clip sits low enough that it’s a joy to use. That said, the Wharncliffe sits higher so it gets in the way when using the Clip point, but it’s not too bad.

That is a gorgeous looking knife - I will definitely look into it! Thanks!!

Here ya go, I did a little bit of the leg work. Same model as mine, Tidioute(GEC) 48 in Bloodwood.

I do believe I can link DLT, but if I’m wrong I can edit it out, or a Mod can. They also may not be the cheapest dealer either, just the first one I came across with them in stock.

I will say that my 48 in Bloodwood is one of my favorite knives with one of my favorite covers. I didn’t expect to like Bloodwood nearly as much as I do, it’s makes for a beautiful cover wood.

Here’s another shot of it-

Funny enough I just got done posting this picture and singing praise for this model earlier today. It’s a keeper.

My single blade 48 is one of my favorites. A very handy size and thin slicer.--KV

Rough Rider has a couple full size/jumbo trappers with a clip and wharncliff blades.
I think they may be stainless though.

I like your bloodwood, but the green jig just looked too cool :)

Good choice. I think you're going to love it! That green does looks cool:cool:

I agree with everyone else. That’s a cool looking 48! It reminds me of a pickle, haha. Those swedges make me plenty envious too. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!

Case has a green bone trapper with red oval shield and clip and WC bladethat came out in 2018. But only in SS.

GEC also made a cigar Wharncliffe jack back about ten years ago that they called a Furtaker Trapper, @ 4⅛" closed.

Got it in the mail yesterday. I am in love with this 48. Perfect F and F, no flaws, both blades dead centered. Absolute perfection. Could of come sharper, but 1095 is super easy to sharpen. The pull is nice and solid without being too strong. The action is fluid. I have really no complaints at all.

I was a little worried that I would miss the 1/2” from my case trapper, but the size is very nice too. :)

Almost forgot. Went with DLT, very quick shipping and I added a note for them to check pull for defects and blade centering, and either they did or I just got lucky :)
