I am fishing for contacts with knifemakers in the west Texas and panhandle region. Abilene, Amarillo, Lubbock, San Angelo, Midland/Odessa, Del Rio, El Paso, and all parts in between. Together this area (larger than all of New England) represents region 3 of the newly forming Texas Knifemakers Guild. Let me know if you're in our catchment area, even if you may not be interested in joining or participating. This group is largely run via Facebook at the moment. Look up the Texas Knifemakers Guild group and feel free to join.
Thanks,
Jason

lol, thanks Bob. We're actually having a hammer in today, expecting 10 or so. Our region 3 FB group has 20 members now. Just fishing for more :)

I'm a noob in Houston area if it matters, lol

That puts you in region 1. If you are on facebook, you should look up the Texas Knifemakers Guild. It's still in the formative stages but, there are a lot of experienced makers getting involved. Our focus is education. New makers are certainly welcome; hell I'm a new maker.

I sent my info in to be added, but I haven't heard anything about getting set up. I wish there was more of a group near the Houston area that was more social, I'd love to spend time learning from a more experienced maker...

I'm in abilene and have been thinking about getting into the craft for a while.
It's nice to know there's a community of like minded Texans not too far away.
If I ever move along any faster and get to where I need guidance I know where to look.

Lance, good to know there are a few more in our town. Look up the Big Country Knife Club if you're on facebook. That'll put you in the loop as far as our get-togethers go. I think we're planning on a few filework demos at our December meeting.

Give us a reason to be more social. There is nothing about you in your profile,no way to contact you. Even a basic 10 dollar membership will give you some PM's or atleast attach an e-mail. We don't know if your a 14 year old kid or a 65 year old retiree.
Sorry this may sound harsh but I would like to know atleast a little about you before I invite you to my shop, and I'm only 15 minuets from you.

Stan

Unfortunately, I won't pay for a forum membership. I was talking about the Knifemaker's club. I sent my info over to the person putting it together, but never got any more information about it.

I will update my profile here, but there isn't much to tell. New guy looking for info...
