Flamed

I'd love to see more examples of flamed titanium. Windex, we're those colors a result of the initial torching? I heard the longer you torch it the darker it will get. I'm wondering if I can get it almost black kind of like the one modded by jake.

The longer you hold the more grey the colors will turn and they'll dull as well until you loose the coloring all together. Windex is about as far as you want to go if you want to keep it vibrant.

Here's a knife I did to give you another idea of the range of colors...

EDIT: I don't know if you can get to the darkness of the grey on the one Jake modded by flaming, but to be honest I've never tried going that far.

Rival1314 can make you an awesome set of scales for it. I posted lots of pics of the JYD scales he did for me over on the Kershaw forum

Id like to see a stone washed blade maybe with some acid washing on a 0300 series.

Ive seen some of Tom Kreins Regrinds and they look great.

I did the bullet stabilizer with a 30-30 round

And then won the scale and I like how it goes with the blade stripes

I want to go for more subtle than vibrant. When you say lose the color all together do you mean it will go back to grey?

Love the tiger striped blade with that scale. The one I'm waiting for in the mail is black/black tho unfortunately.

Yeah, it turns a dull greyish color, had it happen a few times by overheating when learning how to flame Ti.

IMO though, it's not worth the time and effort to strip the DLC just to flame it back to grey. I'd have to imagine DLC is a bitch to get off a 3D machine scale.

Looks like he flamed it with the coating still on.

Doubt it very much, there are pics on another forum of a guy who tried to flame a coated 301 and it did not go well. Came out kinda like you took a Kershaw Cryo and held it over a sooty candle for a bit.

Maybe beadblasted it off?

I finally got my knife and took a bench grinder to it. I took the coating off on just the peaks of the 3d scales.

Next I will attempt to flame it and see what happens

If you flame it your finger oils will get it darker. I purposely did it that way, I hit the edges hard getting that color out and the gold in the middle was just heat from the edges. The colors will get darker but its all dependent on your torch, the hottest mine goes yields blue, if I leave it sitting on a spot for a long time I can get slight pink color but it doesnt look good.

You wont get much of a result from that, I spent 4 hours removing DLC and doing a high polish because I tried when mine was just like yours and I was miserable with the result.
