Keep an eye out for the gec 99 that was released with the wharncliffe option. this was a recent release

I'll second that! At first, I wasn't sure about the handle shape, but they are nice and thin and feel good in hand (to me, anyway). A pretty useful length as well (3.75" closed).

They were released in 2018, but can be found without too much trouble. I got each of the 440C versions (in bone, elk, and chestnut) within the last several months. All three were around the $150 range, but maybe you can get them a little cheaper in the US (I am in the Netherlands). If you like 1095, GEC also released a number in that steel (bone, stag, and micarta, if I recall correctly).
