I'm looking to buy a case peanut chestnut bone cv and probably the yellow one also but I've been reading a few reviews that mention how case quality control isn't what it used to be. Any truth to this?

As this thread is about where to buy instead about the knives, it is being moved to GBU.

I ordered mine of of the big auction site and didnt have a problem. Where ever you buy it look at the return policy or Case's warranty. Im sure if there is a problem they can fix it :)

quality control doesn't have anything to do with online buying or not. all new Case Knives come with a Manufacturers Lifetime Warranty against Materials and Workmanship.

I would only buy Case knives in person, considering the variable quality.

If you do order online, shop from a reputable dealer who will take the knife back if you're not happy.

If you want to order a knife under more worry-free conditions, consider Boker instead for about the same price. Great Eastern Cutlery is excellent, as you'd expect considering the premium prices. (And I highly recommend Bob Andrews as a GEC dealer.)

Recent purchases from Queen and Canal Street Cutlery have been very satisfying too, and don't cost much more than Case.

If you are the kind of person unhappy with the smallest imperfections...buy in person.

That being said I have bought at least two dozen case knives online and have not had to send any back to the vendor or case.
