Hello , I'm searching for a forge that will allow me to forge larger blades and allow me to forge weld billets. I've been looking about and I'm looking at USA knifemakers forge. My budget is around $600. Any advise. I may go for a smaller size if need be but I really want a quality built forge. Thanks-Mark

Sounds like your looking for one you don't have to build yourself but I just thought I would throw it out there and say that you could build your own forge.

Depending what you want look at Nc tools or Centaur forge. Centaur forge offers free shipping and is a great place to deal with. Just in case your budget is exactly 600.00. It will save you a bit.

How big of a forge do you want? I've been asked to come up with a bigger forge than what I currently make and this is good motivation for me.

I have one of these forges

It works great and gets very hot and is way more fuel efficient than my vertical blown welding forge. I dont weld in it to keep flux out but you easily can weld it it. I once left a half inch bar of steel in the forge and got distracted fixing something and when I pulled it out it had melted in half:eek: Also the burners enter the forge chamber at more of an angle than the forge you posted above, which helps the flames swirl for better heat.
