I am really interested in the shun 8" blue kiritsuki knife as well as yoshihiro blue steel knives. I kinda like the asian style knives, I cook alot at home, and worked as a chef in a restaurant. I've had the victorinox 8" knife for a couple years now and I love it but I'm looking for something that makes me smile when i slice a tomato.

in the same boat and would like what other more experienced chefs will recommend. I have a shun classic 8" and a tojiro dp 10". Mostly use the shun. look forward to an upgrade.

It is a good work knife. I normally cook two meals each day, from beef, pork, lamb, chicken, fish, shrimp, duck, to all kinds of veggies, and the shun gets the work done nicely. I avoid cutting bones with the knife (that is when a meat cleaver comes handy). Have used it for about one year and sharpened on a stone couple of times. Always stays sharp (slices ripe tommatos effortlessly). It is suitable for rocking motion due to the edge belly. If you prefer chopping, it may not be an ideal choice.
