Looking to buy a new knife soon, opinions requested.

Ok guys, I really am interested in the Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter and the American Lawman. However, I have no experience whatsoever with CTS XHP blade steel. How does it perform? When it comes time to sharpen it, can it be brought back to a razor edge using the sharpmaker?
My next question is about toughness. I read about CTS XHP being prone to chipping. Is this the case or is it a non issue?

I have a couple of Spyderco knives in CTS XHP. I only use a sharp maker and it does very well. I liked the steel so much I bought the Mule Team in CTS XHP. But I do have to mention that I use the diamond rods if the knife gets very dull and needs reprofiled. but normal touch ups on the sharp maker and stropping have kept that edge shaving sharp.
