Looking to buy a sebenza. what do you like about yours. Pros cons etc

.................

The cons of a CRK................hmmmm, I'll have to get back to you when I can figure out the cons of owning a CRK.

How about when you end up in the poorhouse with 80 CRK's in your bag. :D

When you don't have enough pockets to carry them all, and have to decide which one you're going to carry. For you, LW, a backpack would be in order to carry all those!

And a young, handsome Cabana Boy to carry that backpack! :p :D

what do you value most about it?

The micarta handle. The Sebenza 21 and 25 are the only high quality American made production knives, that I can think of, that are available with canvas micarta for a handle material. Also, the design, fit and finish, and quality of materials. Small finishing touches, like the ceramic detent ball that won't wear flat like steel detent balls do, and the heat treated lock face that will last far longer than untreated Ti lockbars. These are lifetime quality knives. Most knives I like, I buy a spare because I believe that they will wear out or break. I bought a spare Sebenza 21 just in case they discontinue the model and I lose mine, it has nothing to do with a fear of wearing mine out.

The fact that the micarta is inlaid into the handle, instead of slab scales, sets the Sebenzas completely apart from any other knife out there. The inlays are worth every penny to me, and turn another great knife design into the best folder design IMO.

The micarta-inlaid Sebenza 21 is the best all-around folder I've ever used, I believe that I will still be carrying mine daily years from now.

No matter how many other knives you bought before or after Sebenza, you always go back to it.It is so simple that is brilliant.Love mine.

Here's a true con, and I think everybody here will agree to this in one way or another.

CRK ownership offers a perspective in to production knife quality that you won't otherwise have. It becomes the gold standard for performance, fit, finish, and function.

It ruined me on every other knife brand except Hinderer (which I VERY rarely carry) and in some cases Spyderco (which I carry when theres a need). There are absolutely no other production knives that I would even consider owning.

So to clarify, the upsides are bountiful and the downside (if you're like me) is you'll dislike most other production knives once you get to know your Sebenza. There is no such thing as a perfect knife to me- but the Sebenza is as far as I know the closest thing you can get for the dollar spent in a production folder.

^^ Amen! ^^

I used to stare at knife displays in Cabelas and places like that, and now they don't even interest me anymore unless there's a CRK section.

Pro- They're the only modern folders I carry now…

Con- They're the only modern folders I carry now…

I have owned over 125 CRKs, the best edc in the world is the Large Regular. Find one, and find one NOW!

Another positive:
If you're at a knife show, you don't have to enter a lottery in order to buy one.

For me it's a purist's knife.
It's simple and I like it - it just cut's.

I am afraid to loose it.

Pros: Everything everyone else said, and more. Great knife, regardless of which one you get. Some configurations or iterations will suit you better based on preferences but, on the production market, there is no clearly superior knife manufacturer. You could argue one way or another about CRK or the Sebenza's rank in the "top tier" stacked against similarly priced and often compared knives but even those knives derive at least their lock from what was originally Chris Reeve's design. I don't think there is a better overall production knife than the Sebenza(s), personally.

Cons: *shakes lint out of wallet*

After several years of carry and use I have found my experiences to be very similar to those already expressed. Some variance as the best EDC CRK there is, but nonetheless I agree with the statements already submitted.

Here are a couple additional thoughts I can offer up as anecdotal evidence of the superiority of CRK in my experience:

Pros:
~easy to maintain and as such I am unafraid to get it dirty, mucky, and used. If I really do a number on it I can always send it in for a spa service.
~simplicity is beauty.
~Carried and used, they are as beautiful, if not more beautiful than when new.
~CRK service is unparalleled. In my experience, they have a component that most others don't seem to have as good a grasp on--they CARE. Seriously, they want the customer happy--whether you own 80 CRK's or a single CRK. They care about you and will treat you and your knife as importantly as the next.

Cons:
~I legitimately cannot think of one single con to owning and using a CRK. Whether you buy a single one to use and carry or you buy multiples to use, carry, and save. Whatever your preferences are it is well worth it in my opinion.

con is that you will always wonder whats wrong with any other knife that costs less than 300.

pro, you can laugh at your peasant friends when they show you their new gerber. jk jk

One thing I would add is that you can order a damascus blade and they will call you when it's ready and you send your knife in to have it fitted. Then you can have two blades for the knife.

My 25 has replaced just about every folding knife that I own. I carry an alox Vic Pioneer as backup for bottles and screws but, that is about it. The only time it's not with me is when I travel to the restricted city of Boston(2.5" limit).
