guys I'm selling off some guns, knives, other stuff etc to justify to the wife why I'm setting up shop in my garage :)

my question is I seen a kiln on cl here locally it doesn't show any specs and the pics are kinda shoddy, so I emailed the seller asking for specs.. the kiln is a Skutt 181, 24" X 31" 2250fh, for $400 obo.. I really don't know what else to ask him.

I can't see any controls from pics and I don't know squat about kiln's but I heard something about digital control for knife making etc..

is there a specific kiln I should be looking for or NOT looking for.. I'm just in the browsing process and don't expect to jump into a buy right away I still have alot of research to do, but if this is a 'good' buy and doable for knives I may consider it..

I'm looking for something that really won't limit me to the steel I can treat..

thanks in advance........

EDIT: okay I looked around a little bit and this doesn't seem like a 'find' or anything, what should I be looking for that will not limit heat treat's and different steels?

from what I could find it is a regular pottery kiln, no digital controls 18x18 interior room.

Not worth it. Maybe take a chance at $75 but you are better off saving an extra few hundred and getting the smaller size sugar creek knife making kiln with a side opening door vs the Skutt which is a top loading kiln and not ideal or as user friendly for knife making
