Hi
I am looking to buy an integral titanium framelock flipper knife. I am willing to spend at least $400 and would love to hear any suggestions on a nice one to get.
I like the Rike 1508S and am looking at others to buy.
Thanks

Now back to wanting one that is a flipper around $400, there are so many! What is your style? I have several Integral Flippers that I love and could recommend. My favorite right now is my Pohan Leu Bluephin. (Top knife in the picture)

The Southard Tolk, Terzuola ATCF-EDC, and Hinderer XM-18 is also high on my list. All can be had on the exchange for around $400.

Correction** Integral Frame** disregard this post

Not flipper, not the same kind of integral. What the OP meant was integral as in the frame being a solid piece, like the Lionsteel SR1. I honestly think integral knives are overrated, because they are a gigantic pita to perform maintenance on. Too much washer shimmying.

I'm looking for a single piece titanium frame. That's where things get tricky. Not so much to choose from.

When you say "integral" you mean a handle milled from a single billet of titanium, correct?
I can only think of 3 near your price range.
Lionsteel SR1
Lionsteel Sr2(smaller version of the SR1)
Spyderco Nirvana

So he meant "monolithic". One solid piece of billet titanium that is milled out to make the frame. The SR1 and SR2 are really the only production knives in that range that I can think of but there really aren't many. They are hard to take apart and clean and other than being cool I don't think they offer any advantages IMO.

I see them as inherently inferior to non-integral knives for similar reasons. First, it will be likely be heavier, then, much more expensive to produce, additionally, if it develops any kind of warping or damage the entire frame is likely to need to be replaced or at least worked with much more specialized machinery.

I see no inherent upsides or benefits to an integral frame. It's gadget factor incarnate.

No, he meant "integral", but you misinterpreted that as meaning "integral lock"

Many makers and manufacturers use the term "integral" and the OP was not wrong to do so.

Never heard it stated that way before. I have only heard monolithic when talking about the frame and integral when talking about the type of lock. I understand now.

Reate is coming out with the "Future" this year. It's a Tashi Bharucha design.

About $480 for marble carbon fiber inlays and $580 for mokuti inlays. Damasteel/Mokuti is $700+, but the others come with a hand rubbed satin finish.

Looks a little too "Star Trek" for me. Not that that's a bad thing though:D

I've got the Reate Future on preorder. I know Custom Knife works makes and integral too, but I don't like the shape of it. I'm willing to spend at least $400, so upwards is fine, since I don't think they start below $400.

Just a heads up, they can be a pain if you have to take them apart to clean them!!
