Looking to buy first SpyderCo Knife

almost all the spydercos are excellent knives. Just look at the one you think looks the best and would fit your blade size requirments. If you just want a spyderco IMO the delica is the most traditional and commonly associated spyderco. The tenacious series (persistance is my fav) are excellent and less expensive. The dragonflys are great for a light weight edc knife. Para2 is a good heaveir user knife, a bit larger handle but awesome knife overall. My top 3 faves are 1.endura wave, 2. delica wave. 3. dragonfly H1 SE in that order.

I will always say get a tenacious, best and most favored knife i own, however; the Manix, Delcia, endura, salts, stretch, and dragon flies are also great choices. im currently in the process of ordering a Delica 4 FFG

The Spyderco Stretch is the best choice around the $75 price point for EDC tasks. The Stretch has an incredible grind and geometry that makes it slice better out of the box than most folders on the market. It also packs a large blade into a relatively small, light handle. I find the handle more economic, and really appreciate the forward choil, than knives that cost twice its price, and VG-10 is an incredibly balanced, great-performing steel. The only downside is that, like most Spyderco lock backs, deployment is stiff for the first several weeks of ownership until the knife breaks in.

I'd look for a used Sage 1 as a backup.

Start with the best. The Stretch ;)

Spyderco's founder created it for his personal EDC. I like and enjoy alot of their designs, I'm a Spydernut... There's "cooler ones" out there but the Stretch is my most used knife day in and day out. Excellent ergos, excellent slicer with the very thin grind, perfect belly, good steel options, light/thin, ideal Spyderhole placement, choil, etc. etc.

Endura, the Stretch's cousin would also make a great first Spydie... This series of folders plain work. Tried n true.
