Hello all. Here's where I'm at. The knife collection is growing, and I've found my 'type'. Titanium frame lock flipper. That's my favorite, hands down. The look, feel, build, I just love them. I have from Zero Tolerance 0560BW, 0561, 0566, and 0562 pre-ordered. So I've had my eye on them as you could guess from what I have, and then my boss pushed me over the edge. If you remember I asked for him here about directly ordering, he's a fire fighter. So I've been trying to help him, and it pushed me over the edge I want to get one! So here's my main question: I'm torn between the XM18 3.5 Spanto and the XM24 Spanto. I would just love everyone's opinion of the two. I'd prefer the 24, but I feel they're alot harder to come by, but if they're way more awesomer then I don't want to settle. I appreciate any and all answers from you all. Thanks for your time guys. Patrick.

I personally love the XM18 3.5. The XM24 is just too big for my personal taste in an EDC. I need to add a 3" RHK soon though.

The XM-24 is similar in size to the 560/561. It it larger though. It is a 4" blade... A real beast!! And Pure Awesome!!

I've had both, I prefer the 3.5" spanto. Reason being the XM-24 spanto is 3/16" thick so the geometry doesn't lend itself to slicing. As a fireman myself, at work I process cardboard, zip ties, plastic jugs, rope, seatbelts, etc. The XM-24 binds up in some of those materials where as the XM-18 doesn't. If slicing is not your main concern, the XM-24 is tank tough and will stand up to anything you can throw at it.

I found one on the big auction site. It's 800, I believe gen1, it has s35vn stamped it looks like on blade, that's it. I'll probably pull the trigger after work. If anyone is bored and wants to check it out and let know if they see anything I would be forever grateful. I can only find 3 xm24 for sale there, and it's the 800 one. Thanks if someone gets bored and reports back.

Don't buy one there. Wait for one on the forum here for a better price and you won't have to worry about fakes.

I asked him some questions and the response was scary vague. Do you have to be a gold member to post a want to buy post, and where would it go? I also work all day 6 days a week, so I'm afraid of missing it. I see these gp super quick. I'll get the gold membership as soon as I get home, on coffee break now.

mmassey is right, the big auction site isn't the best place to buy higher end knives. Far too many fakes. Anyone at any level can post in the "want to buy" area, but to reply to someone's post you must be gold or higher. Patience is key, it took me a long time to get mine but I got it for a fair price from a trustworthy member.

In fact search through the exchange I am pretty sure there is at least 2 for sale.... I could be wrong and seen them on another site.. Good luck!

Also, if you're worried about the spanto on a XM-24 being too "thick", there's always the slicer grind as well, which isn't too bad at all. My previous 24 was a slicer, and I never had any problems not being able to "slice" through materials. Of course there are other variables as well like how sharp it is, the bevel angle, etc. Good luck on your search brother!

As much as I love the 3" now, I think a 24 is still in my future. Good luck in your search!!

It's hard to catch one you like before it's snatched up.

I FINALLY grabbed one up two weeks ago and am in love.
3.5 spanto. Fits like it was made for my hand.
I have a 0560 I've always loved, but it's on the large side. Not a problem, just prefer a hair smaller handle. The xm 18 3.5 was the perfect fix. I like a thick robust blade, as well so I couldn't have asked for more.

I'm 6' with long skinny hands and I think I'd love a 24, but like the 0560, I think I'd feel like the handle had too much length.
(won't stop me from getting a 24)

All I can find as of now is the fleabay one. And he did answer all of the questions, I'm torn on what to do....

If you feel confident go for it. But I'll always trust guys here first. Plus here, guys are real knife analysts. Not to say the fleabay guy isn't, but BF members eat breath knives.

Little size comparison for you with a 3.5"
