Looking to get my first Kershaw

Kershaw has a huge selection of knives so I'll request help from you guys. I need a 2.5-3" blade (NO longer, 3" is the legal limit here), within the price range of say, $20-$50. I prefer it not to be assisted opening, because I'm pretty sure that's illegal here too. I would also like it be very high value. I really wanted the Scamp but it's too long :( Also, I'm considering a Leek even though it's assisted, but what are my other options? Thanks guys!!

i like the OD-1. it is manual and sub 3". i have the blacked out version and it is really good looking IMO.

I would have said get the leek. You say you are pretty sure - why not check out your knife laws and be completely sure?

The RAM is an awesome knife at any price with a great lock.

Also, isn't the leek over 3 inches?

Wisconsin - 941.24. Possession of switchblade knife. (1)

device in the handle or by gravity or by a thrust or
movement is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor...

and would this make my SOG mini vulcan illegal because I can disengage the arc lock and swing it open?

I'm far from wanting to give legal counsel here, but for me, the Leek doesn't fall under that definition, because you have to touch the blade to open it.

The leek is quite popular, and not without good reason: It's a great, inexpensive knife, particularly for urban/domestic purposes. There aren't too many reasons not to like it, though one is the steel handle which some folks don't care for, but I don't consider the leek a hard-use knife which would necessitate a better grip. The leek has gotten so popular though that you can find it with fossilized brain coral handles, composite blades, and so forth.
As for the legal aspect and from the little I can tell, this knife should not be prohibited by your state law because the release mechanisms are part of the blade and not buttons or switches. But you should ask that question in the "Knife Laws" forum.

Kerhsaw Zing is nice 3" very fast manual folder that can take bit more hard work than leek.

How about a small Vapor or a Half Ton. Both are good buys for the money. You can also get a Scallion but it is speed assist. Two more that come to mind are the Skyline and the JYD. Good Luck. Kevin

Skyline, Zing... OD, love them all. I'd go for the RAM though... one of my best knife purchases EVER.

I think if the Leek is legal here I will think about asking for that for christmas along with a Delica 4 (I can't buy any more blades right now). It would be a perfect addition to my EDC rotation (Benchmade Mini Grip 556, SOG Mini Vulcan, Boker Trance, and soon some Rough Riders)

Check out the Ener-G II. Blade length is just under 3" and its got a very nice flipper.
