Well, I've had a flipper design drawn up for a while , but haven't found anyone who could make a proto for me. And so I was wondering if anyone knew of someone who could? Thanks!

Perhaps if you showed your drawing and state the materials you want used you will have a better chance of getting a response.

hey - i'm pretty sure REESE WEILAND will be willing to try. he's working on a proto for me now, based on a previous design of his...

you can get to him thru his website by looking him up on G. good luck!

I don't want to post my design as people love to hijack them and put them off as their own. As for materials; 154CM for the blade(or a similar stainless), and titanium for the frame.

I have heard many bad things about Reese so I am not about to trust him. Thanks for the suggestion but no thanks.

Titanium for the handle- so, I guess it's a framelock... See, a piece of info you didn't want to divulge might have been 'leaked'. ;-) But it is something a prospective maker of the prototype should be aware of. When you ask something like that, it would be a good idea to lay out general info that might be relevant for the one who makes it (say, pivot bearings which adds difficulty to prototyping, or recurve which might be difficult in terms of sharpening, compound bevels, &c)- what Frank asked was AFAIK entirely for the benefit of your getting the answer you're looking for... Except, you might have gotten a few advice from experienced knife-makers on your design*, which IMHO is not a bad thing.

I think you worry too much about that- I don't think there is much in knife world that hasn't been done or cannot be said to have been in a way done before.

P.S. I'm currently designing few locking mechanism 'improvements' I'm considering to offering to a major knife company- and it's not the prospect of the ideas being 'stolen' that terrifies me... it's the prospect of them laughing their head off when they see them... :-D

* except for the ideas and the knife design I'm proposing- it's my first knife, and if they don't realise it's the bestest knife in the world, and the bestest construction there ever was... it's their fault :-p (all kidding aside, I did post some ideas of mine and all I got in return were helpful responses and considerations... not anyone bothered to steal my design :-( ).

Well, in that case... I won't give any specifics such as dimensions or pictures at this point. But I will say yes, it's a framelock(hence why I said flipper) with pivot bearings, and a tanto blade. Although I'm still debating on the actual blade grind. But that isn't needed until I can see how well it will actually function. Maybe I'll post a picture of two of the drawing in CAD in a day or two. Appreciate the response wolf!

I say if you don't like the people who may be willing to do it, ...
and you don't trust us here because we will steal your design as our own ( I highly doubt it is unique anyway),....
And we might even be tempted to steal your length and width as well as your idea of a frame lock knife, (great idea, why didn't I think of making a frame lock)
YOU SHOULD KEEP IT A SECRET AND MAKE IT YOURSELF.
