Looking to put a choil on my knife

I have a Gerber Prodigy and I want to put a choil on it but I'm worried that I'll lose some of the already short cutting edge. Thoughts?

It's the price you pay if you want a choil...
But, from looking at pictures before I hit submit, it looks like there's an unsharpened piece before the ricasso - put it there and you won't lose anything sharp
