I havent tried it, but I think that it must be harder to work with the vanadium, not to mention the price comparison. An oil quenched steel shouldn't warp too much either.

S30V is more forgiving to work, because the grinding is a little slower, and w/o the sparks flying everywhere. It's about the same price as D2. I don't think the price is bad if you're just making a few knives out of it. There are more places willing to heat treat air quenched steels than oil quenched steels.
