Looking to upgrade EDC

I am looking to upgrade the EDC knife which I use at work in an office environment.

I would like for the knife to have a tip up deep pock clip and about a 3” blade length.

No recurve, serrations or painted blades.

I would prefer a frame or liner lock over a lock back design.

I want it to have a flipper type opener rather than just thumb studs.

I want a quality made knife with good steel, lighter the better.

I would like to keep it under $150.

the buck vantage pro fits everyone of your criteria.

buck vantage pro:
3.25" blade on the large (2.6" for the small)
frame lock
has a flipper
deep carry, tip up pocket clip
S30V blade with a paul bos heat treat, G10 handle
the large (3.25" blade) weighs 3.7oz. the small weighs 2.3oz.
cost around $60
made in the USA

I find flippers to be slower than a good thumb stud/hole, and awkward to use. If you are talking an "assisted" flipper, then the same holds true as I find an assisted with a stud/hole to work better and less chance of opening by accident. Obviously YMMV but I find that you have to regrip a knife when using a flipper opposed to opening with a stud/hole. Maybe a "wave" would work better if you need speed. Again.. YMMV

I'm going to order a Kershaw Knockout as soon as I can find on in stock somewhere. I am also in the process of having a tip up, deep pocket clip made for my leek by STR Backyard Knife Works. That should do it, I'll never need to buy another knife again ;) or at least in the next week..........................or three days............................maybe.

I can't speak from experience, but I've been looking at getting a Kershaw Chill to replace my Twitch II.

little late to the party.
Sounds like we are looking for similar things.
I carry a skyline most days, benchmade 940 on special days (not a flipper, but smoother and within budget)
I also just ordered a knockout. We will see if it is a bit too big for the office.

Not a specific recommendation, but a thought to consider...

I try not to compromise on my main EDC folder for social considerations. I slipped for a while, but the "East Coast Earthquake" (tremor) reminded me what was wrong with that idea.

I've been working in offices for about 30 years. Where it's legal to carry anything (increasingly not, around here), I almost always carry at least two- my main EDC folder, the one I want to have if I REALLY need one, never sees the light. I carry something COMPLETELY innocuous like a Leatherman Micra or Vic Classic to cut tape, open boxes and envelopes, or, importantly, to hand to people if they ask if I have a knife, which "disarms" the conversation without alarming anyone.

One is enough for the office, and weighs almost nothing, the other is hopefully enough to get me home.

I recently bought the Benchmade 940 and really like the knife. I suggest heading to a knife store and seeing which one feels the best in your hands-as an EDC you want something that's a joy to use day in and day out.

Kershaw Speedform II?

This would be my recommendation as well. I just picked up a Speedform II for the reasons the OP described. All my other knives tend to look like tacticals, the Speedform to me looks like a very elegant knife.

It only has a thumb stud, which I prefer over a "flipper".

They are selling for less than $70 right now.
