I am looking for sources/suppliers for purchase of bulk folder parts such as pivots, stop pins, stand off's, thumb studs, thum disc's, pocket clips, buttons, springs, etc.

Any leads or contacts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I generally use the hardened precision dowel pins from MMC or MSC for stop pins. You can get bulk and they're cheap. I think Enco may carry them as well.

On the rest of the stuff, you might try Rick Hinderer. I know he's got a serious backlog, but that's where I got my pivots and thumbdisks.

Halpern Titanium makes a lot of stuff as well. I haven't bought from them, but I know a lot of makers have, and I've heard good reviews.

I may have a machinist lined up for a lot of parts in the future, but we're still working on the details. I'll let you know on that if you want me to.

I'll have to browse my MSC companies catalogs. I didn't think they had hardened pins but makes sense they do, they have everything else.

I have a line on a machinist and will be spec'ing out some parts but if you find some one with a screw machine looking for medium run jobs (500 to 5,000 pieces), let me know. I'm interested.

I just visited House of Blades in Fort Worth, TX over Christmas and noticed something I've never seen before: they've got boxes and boxes of slipjoint backsprings.

I knew they sold guards, and scale slabs, etc, but the backsprings had slipped by me before.

Can they supply 500 for you? That I don't know. :o

Edit: the website isn't good for much, but it does give you the phone number and email address.

Tracy, it's already been mentioned but you can get your screws, stop pins, detent balls, reamers, drills, taps, counter bores, teflon sheets for making washers, washer making tool kit, virtually everything but the handle, blade, and liner material from MSC. I bought everything I could from MSC, they are a great outfit to do business with and if you place an order before 2pm, you'll get it the next day.

Check with Darrel Ralph. I know he is ramping up productions of folder parts through knifekits.com. He was talking about more customized pieces and a much wider array of parts as well.
