It left the outfit I bought it from today by FedEx and I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival! :D
They don't come with handles but I figure since I already have one axe handle to make another won't hurt any as I'll get to where I can do things again or die trying.;)
But it was very reasonable for its size and a real boarding axe to boot! :D
Osage Orange ought to make real nice handles for both of them....

Oh, the other one? Here it is, a real Nessmuk axe!!!! :D Oh yeah, that's measured in millimeters and on my monitor is a little larger than life size.;)

You could PM me, while waiting for the answer. That way, I won't explode. Think of it as a humanitarian act.

What's the right handle length for the boarding axe? Was it intended to be used like a 'hawk or two-handed?

Yvsa, you're such an enabler. I bought 2 of the boarding axe heads. Any answer to Mike's question. Had the same one myself.

I'd rather not have links to active sales sites. Let's keep it to PM's for now.

Thanks.

Could at least the name of the place be mentioned? Understood, no active sales links, but if you could say, "Got it from Mineral Mountain," for example, we could google it... just saying.

HEY. That Cegga one looks Fantastic Yvsa.

This is mine after hafting it with hickory.

The boarding axe is from Jas. Townsend and Son. Ted, I hope that doesn't violate your intention, since it's not a link.

Andy, I'm drooling, and my resolve is melting.

I know I already got a Deal-Of-The-Day earlier this week... but wow... that boarding ax is freaking awsome!

I don't think that naming the place where one bought something is hurting anything at all:thumbup::)

Quite honestly, I like knowing where I can find some of this cool stuff. The no-no of sales linking stuff is a house rules formality. It's one of Spark's rules that we have to follow. No big deal as he is gracious enough to let us use his house:thumbup:

The Cantina has always been about the free exchange of ideas and friendship, and I know we all want to keep it that way. While I'm not 100% clear on it, my understanding of the rule is "No direct linky, no problem".

Edit to add: That is one sweet looking axe, Yvsa! Let us see some pictures when you get it done

Very nice Yvsa! Im sure you can do a handle easily, what does the boarding axe weight?

Ive seen old British Naval axes with handles from 18 inches to 2 ft. Had a couple myself that were around 21/22 inch mark.

I guess over 300 years of use there was a lot of variation...

Very nice! I like their site a lot. Lots of Tomahawks at very reasonable prices! Will have to try a few out!

On another note, where is a good place to obtain quality hawk handles such as osage etc?
