Loosened pivot for my preferred tension... loctite OK?

There's also green LockTite (#271 I think) that's made for parts that have already been assembled. It wicks in and then "kicks."

You don't need to heat it to release it. When you break the parts loose, the 271 granulates so it's like glass dust. It will fight you the whole way apart: which can be a good thing with some applications (just stiffens up the part fit feel of small threaded parts while remaining adjustable, etc).
That sounds like a good option.. I like it. Thanks. Will check it out when I go to the hardware store for the blue.

You just hold the tip on the screw you want to break loose. It only takes a few seconds.
I don't have any experience with a soldering iron... needless to say, I don't own one.

Teflon tape is for pipe threads not screw threads, there is a difference.

Loctite like any glue is useless once the bond is broken and must be re-applied. Blue loctite is great for threads under tension but with typical pivot screws there is not much tension on the threads. I like red loctite for pivot screws and if done properly will not be any harder to remove than it was when new. Just enough to cover the inner grooves of the threads is all that's needed. Its what I have used for years and never needed to heat a screw or any other extreme measure to remove it.
