I noticed that small axes are used a lot for cutting small branches, but does anyone carry a pair of loppers ?

I often carry a pair of loppers with me when I go into my woods (I have 15 acres of woods and there's lots of other woods besides mine) just to cut a few grapevines here and there. Some loppers may be a bit clumsy to carry, but there may be some available that would be easy to carry on a pack. I often cut branches and vines almost 2 inches thick, and they hold up really well.

Even a small pair of pruning type sheers (mini-loppers) would be great for cutting up small branches for a fire;these could easily fit into a pack or on your belt. This would also save your knives for other duties. They can also be used for cutting various edible vegetation, and probably critter bones too !
