• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Lord of the Rings

I don't know who's doing the swords and daggers and other shiny (good guy) and tactical-black (bad guy) sharp objects for the Lord of the Rings movie, but as a Tolkein nut from waaaaay back I'd like to offer a couple of suggestions for Lord of the Rings threads.

- If, as in this thread, it's about sharp objects and their uses in the movie, this forum and the specialized Sword Forum here are logical places.

- If it's about the movie in general, and especially about nefarious tinkering with the plot, the logical forum for that is Community.

Now what master bladesmith can make me a mithril-unobtainium damascus puukko?

JKM,

We'll keep it on subject here.

J.R.R. Tolkien was a highly respected scholar of Midieval history. He draws on European history, myths, and literature; in The Lord of the Rings. The result is a fantasy of incredibly rich color and texture. It would be a real disservice to do the live action film using Standard POS stage props (remember First Knight - probably not).

There were edge weapons all over this saga; lets hope that a first rate artisan has been contracted to develop appropriate props. Does anyone know whether Jody Sampson is involved on this one?

The subject is fanciful enough for Gil Hibbens art pieces.

BTW put me down for a mithril Pukko.
