Losing Knives

AC, we've been around here a long time you and me, and over all those years between us us I think we could count on one hand each all the knives we've lost together. I'm the same way, no safe queens and because I carry several knives I'm constantly patting my pockets. Like my wife calls it, "Knife Check" ;) . I never consider them lost, just MIA. I've had knives missing for over 5 years turn up in unexpected places. You can't help but misplace a few over all those years but when it's put in perspective and compared to all the knives we've owned/handled over those years my losses have got to be about .02%.

I figure if your loss rate is above 1% maybe you need to find a better carry method. :) or stick to Opinels and knives you can afford to lose. :) Definitely stay away from the mid techs and customs.

I actually stopped buying customs when I lost a Mike Obenauf framelock at an outlet mall, trying on coats. I eventually went back to higher dollars knives,

I've lost 2 knives. Nothing expensive, a SAK and Delica 3 but it is frustrating. It's one reason I don't buy much over $100. Plus I'm cheap.

Do you have a den?
If so, ask the den poltergeist (nicely) to give the missing knives back.

In the mean time, have you checked the washer and drier, refrigerator, freezer, under the sink, and in the kitchen cabinets and drawers?

From personal experience, I can tell you poltergeists like to hide your stuff in unlikely places.
Lay off the lsd haha

I've been looking for my Delica for over a year now. I'm sure I think it is somewhere in my house....

Over the last forty-five years, I have bought a lot of SAKs. Most of them were stashed on motorbikes to supplement the tool kits. I have quite a few bikes, and used to license and ride seven or eight every year. I have found most of the SAKs, but I know there are still three or four out there, including a Wenger that was my first SAK, and that I really liked.

I still hope that at least a couple will turn up. There are a lot of tool compartments, tank bags and pouches that could still harbor a knife. I wouldn’t mind finding a couple of my old Leatherman tools as well.

No sofa queens for me. I'm more a user kind of guy. :D I haven't lost a knife since I was a kid; however, I did lose a nice LED flashlight at work last year. I believe a trash bag hooked onto the pocket clip and lifted it out of my pocket as I hurled it into the dumpster. Of course I didn't think of that until a few days later when it was too late. May it rest in peace in whatever landfill it's reposing in. :(

Here’s some good advice for people that give up looking for knives that meat be lost in couches....

My wife recently lost her phone and it was on mute. We looked everywhere including one couch that I almost pulled apart. She downloaded an app that rings your phone regardless of it is on mute.

In any case it was so far down the side of the couch that we almost had to cut it open to get it out. If I’d want for the app, we would have never found it.

Point is that heavy things like knives and phones can really get lodged down deep.

I also found almost $4 in change.

Never touch drugs, (to include over the counter like aspirin) and I don't drink. :)
You said in the other thread you drank 4 liters a day of Mountain dew. Caffeine is a drug.

i hate losing anything.
if its even semi-important to me, I have a place for it and if its not in that place i get a little crazy.

i got a new flashlight for christmas, its pretty nice, but I haven't gotten used to its new place yet. i looked for it half the day yesterday...until it was about in bed, and remembered where its home was.

would have been better if ya lost a couple of your kershaw launches.:) wouldnt miss those as much, right?
