Losing my mind with everyone thinking they need thick blades for everything

In response to the topic; the majority of knives on the market are of a "reasonable" thickness; 3-5mm. So, there are more than enough options. That's not the case for the thicker knives. There are very few producers who make a lot of 5.5mm+ knives. Most have a couple of, or one or 2, models in that range, but for any choice or variety in models there are very few producers; Busse, Extrema Ratio. For folders, there's Extrema Ratio, and I can't think of anyone else.

I like the izula thick. It's a knife that you are meant to beat on (even abuse).

But yeah, I know what you mean. That's why I bought a bunch of .093" 1095. I'm gonna have me like 15 nice thin blades at my disposal soon.

I really don't consider 4mm thickness and under on folders to be "hard use" category, especially in knives with a 3.75"+ blades. There are some blades ground so thick they do not cut well at all, regardless of what special type of steel the blade is made from. Just my opinion though.

I wish my Caly 3.5 was the same thickness as a Chaparral. I also wish my Izula 2 was only 1/8th inch thick stock but I still use and enjoy both knives.

I'm trying to think of the equivalent of a knife chopping a 2"x4" competition. Can't think of one unless it would be a bouncing low rider competition.
