No, he wasn’t human, he was a fourteen-month-old Bullmastiff. We have done everything together since I purchased him at eight weeks of age.

People visiting to buy rock from me ran over him. I still have tears running down my cheeks writing this.

I purchased a camera a couple of days ago and was going take his pic with my ergo’s when they came, and post it.

He was my very best mate.

My deepest sympathies Ian. I hope the folks that ran him over showed the proper remorse.

Why do we have such feelings for our dogs. I have lost several in my lifetime, and it never gets easier. Hate to see such a young one go.

My old buddy is about to go, he is 14 years old and has cancer and we have had him on medication to make him feel better in his last days. I cannot put him down until it is his time, i owe him much.

I know how you feel, and it never gets easier

I'm sorry you lost your friend Ian. Dogs can be the most loyal, loving, best friends, more deserving than some people I know. I hope time heals your sorrow.
Sincerely, Vicki Lind

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I assume the "rock" they were buying is the kind out of the ground???

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thank you for your kind words. It happened on one of the rare occasions that he was not by my side. The people said they knew he was there, but thought he would get out of the way.
I collect and sell garden rock; most is delivered direct from the bush to nurseries. Not many visit my home to purchase it.

Not being used to traffic, he had no fear of vehicles.

Another pic! He had a tough life…:) :)

I'm past the half way point myself, and it's never gotten simple by any stretch.

Ian,
Just keep walking, it's the only way. Sorry that I can't offer more.

I am so sorry for your loss, Ian....:( I wish I could say or do something to make you feel better......

Bo

The breeder has phoned me twice now about Cooper, she has insisted that she will be bringing another pup to our house in December exactly the same, there will be no cost, and no excuses, and that she will be driving away with out it.

The only condition, he is to be named “Stanley”. (After her dad)

My wife is still saying no to it, but I am weakening a little.:)
