Loss of a friend!!

The breeder has phoned me twice now about Cooper, she has insisted that she will be bringing another pup to our house in December exactly the same, there will be no cost, and no excuses, and that she will be driving away with out it.

The only condition, he is to be named “Stanley”. (After her dad)

My wife is still saying no to it, but I am weakening a little.:)

Reading the Male's Survival Manual, it says to explain it more forcefully. It gives a picture of you down on both knees "explaining" it to her with what appears to be liquid offering from your eyes :D

Ian,

I am so sorry for your loss.

Last year, we lost both of our yellow labs on the same day. We bought their dog food at a feed store, and the vet said it gave the dogs something called straight gut. Somehow, goat feed got added to the food.

It's always tough after a dog dies. Last year, Jer mentioned buying a new dog and that almost hurt worse than losing the dogs. I held out for a few months... maintaining I "never" wanted another dog, because no dogs could be better than Gunner and Rebel.

However, time healed the situation, and Jer dragged me into the humane society one day, just to "look". Needless to say, I left with two puppies. They'll never take the place of Gunner and Rebel, but they're so special in their own rights.

Just give your wife some time... I bet in a little while she'll be ready for a puppy.

Jennifer

Thanks Jennifer, you are correct of corse, reading your post is almost an echo of my wives words this morning.

No pup will replace Cooper.

Maybe she will melt when she sees the new puppy on our doorstep in December.

I will let her make her own decision herself
