I just lost my plain-jane Manix 2 in the middle of a big jesus field today at work... by the time I realized it was gone, it was already pitch black out and I couldn't go back for it. :(

I've been using this thing pretty much non-stop as my work knife since the start of last summer, so it had seen a whole wack of use. Losing knives friggin' sucks.

I'll probably end up buying another one to replace it...I'm pretty bummed out about this. :( :thumbdn:

That sucks, man. Maybe, just maybe, it could turn up in a pocket or bag you don't expect to find it in?

That happened to me: Thought I lost my most used daily-carry blade and it was sitting on a some clothes folded over the back of a chair, having slipped out of the coin pocket of my jeans I must've laid there at some point.

Might seem like a long shot, but I hope you find it.

I'm sorry to hear that. I definitely worry about things like this happening with my blades (especially my Spydies), but it hasn't happened to me yet. *knock on wood*

It might sound like anathema, but would carrying a cheaper/beater blade be an option when you know the chance of losing the knife is higher?

Seems like a golden opportunity to try a find an orange scale of Moonglow version:thumbup:.

It totally sucks to lose a pocketknife, especially a nice one. Hope you find it.

Not to be smart, 20/20 hindsight and all that, but why not use the lanyard to tie it to yourself? I used to be a chronic knife loser, until I started tying them to my belt. Haven't lost one in years now.

Good Luck!

1st- very sorry to hear brother. Has happened to all of us at one time or another. Don't even waste a minute trying to scour for it and get more disappointed. I have knives valued at 1000 bucks and some that are 75.00. That is one of the very reasons why you carry a plain jane spyderco mannix 2. It is a fantastic knife- and will do everything a 400 dollar knive would- but in this case when you loose it. Don't get pissed- just order another and hopefully you will have that one for years. Serioulsy, this is the very reason why I carry a mannix usually rather then a strider or crk etc etc. If you happen to loose it- you wont have a hard attack and for 60.00-80.00 bucks you can just purchase another. Keep the safe queens in the safe and this bad boy is an amazing user if I can say so myself. GL man and again, sorry to hear about the loss. Don't even stress about it though. Stuff happens.

Try renting/borrowing a metal detector and retrace your steps

Great idea. Used to use one to find lost arrows. Worked great till I switched to carbon...it's a smaller target now. A cheap metal detector will have no problem finding a knife in a field if you know your approximate path of travel when you lost the knife.

Sorry to hear about losing your Manix 2.
I lost my reg. lg. seb in the house for 11 months. Could Not find i but didn't give up hope of finding it. I had a headlite blub burnout this past winter....I found the seb in a
box with hl bulbs. I sure don't remember putting there.

That sucks. Could be worse though. Remember reading a while back of guy who lost his first gen. XM 18. That's almost irreplaceble at this point. Still sucks though.

That is pretty bad luck. But look at it this way, whoever finds it is going to feel very lucky. Hopefully its someone worthy of your knife. :-)

I can see the Manix 2 right now on google maps' satellite view, laying right there in that field where you lost it. Zoom in on google maps and you'll see it.

Hey Reeek. Just read through that long post about your quest for a 4-500 knife. What did you end up getting? Custom on order? Or the Umnumzaan? Great makers listed in there.
