Sucks to lose a knife. Within the last 5 years I've lost 2 that hurt something awful. I lost my Spyderco Kopa Pearl when it fell out of my slacks at a business conference. Called the center back the next day, and of course no one turned it in.
Left my Chris Reeve Mnandi at a hotel on a business trip. Called the next day, and of course no one turned that one in either...

Lessons learned: Never travel with anything expensive, and always use a sheath when wearing pants with vertical-opening pockets.
