I lost the first 3 knives I ever had, one pocket folder, one Rambo-ish "survival" knife (hey I was a kid) and a butterfly (balisong). I know, not a great start.

Fortunately they were all pretty inexpensive. I like to think I've learned something from the experience- losing a non-junky knife would really hurt.

Does being confiscated at airport security count as lost? Being absent minded, I've set off the equipment more than once there, let them take a cheap Buck that I didn't like anyway because I was late as usual.... and of course regretted it later.
My worst loss was a scrimshaw lockback that I bought on a family vacation to Hawaii. About 10 years later I left it on a hotel room dresser one morning, remembered it and went back for it at Noon (I was still staying there) but the cleaning crew had already worked their magic..... So now I travel with non-sentimental el cheapos.

By the way, speaking of airport security, a couple other times since 9/11 I went through the machines with a forgotten pocket knife, no alarm, didn't realize it was in my pocket until later. And once my wife went through with a forgotten really thick Swiss army knife buried in the bottom of her purse. It set off the equipment, but security (nor us) couldn't find anything. It wasn't until the next day when she was rummaging through the contents for her lipstick that she "pulled out a plum".

Lost a BM AFCK to the lake gods, a Schrade-Walden hunter and a CS Recon Scout( one of the 1st ones) to theft.

Lots of us feel for ya.

I lost a Mini-Cyclone in zdp/ti when tearing down some fence while volunteering w/ the Div of Wildlife here in CO. There went a quick $150 to replace it. Dang!:thumbdn:

I lost my Kershaw Model# 2002 a decade ago, and till this day I still cant find one to BUY!!!
It was the perfect pocket knife

Got home from work a little while ago and noticed my front right pocket was empty. ... This is the first knife I've ever lost. It wasn't anything super expensive (Spyderco Endura SS) but it was given to me by my brother quite a few years ago. Sucks.:grumpy:

This is one of the reasons I went back to in-pocket carry (rather than clipped to pocket).

yeah m1marty, was it in or out of your pocket? clip? and sorry for your loss bro :(

Clipped in my pocket. I can't figure out how I lost it unless I snagged it on something. I've been toting a pocket knife of some sort or another all over the world for more than 15 years and never lost one. Camping, in the military, white water rafting, dirt biking- nothing ever fell out.:(

I lost an Endura a few years ago, but that was it. Seems like when my knives disappear, they tend to be found next to or under the driver's seat of the powernoodlemobile.

I haven't lost it yet, but I'm planning to lose my CRKT Desert Cruiser. Buying that thing sure turned me against chisel grind knives. Every other knife I've had has resurfaced after awhile. The bottom of closets is a good place to check. Behind dressers, under car seats, in glove compartments, in cold weather coats/jackets during summer, in gun bags, tool boxes and, of course, under beds. You'd be amazed at how many knives get lost in tool boxes. You're working on something, then you put it all away and forget that your knife was among the tools. Oh, and flashlights and knives tend to be magnetically attracted to each other, so that's another tip.

I had a Cold Steel Night Force that was missing for weeks. I found it in an overnight bag I'd never fully finished unpacking. Overnight bags and camera bags also are hiding places for knives. Sometimes you'll find them in the zippered parts of the camera bags.

Damn, that sucks.
A couple of weeks ago I lost my Benchmade Skirmish.....ARRGH!!
Never lost a knife before, and I am not even sure how I lost that one!
Looked all over Hell for it....lets put it this way; my truck has never been cleaner!

Now I have replaced it, and added a Shallot to the stable, so I will be pissed if I do find it....maybe.

I lost my very first SAK ( a recruit).
Or more accurately i "misplaced" it for couple of years.
It reappeared one day while helping to move my parents couch.
I picked up one end of the couch and we moved it about 3 feet when i heard a "thunk".
There on the floor was my Recruit.
I guess some couches like to eat pocket knives as well as loose change.
:D

I just had a dinosaur bone custom knife I was sending to a customer "disappear" in transit. I am not at all happy as it was a very rare piece of dino bone...... So, if you see this one for sale somewhere it is a stolen knife.....

I have lost numerous Old timer /umcle henry folders.

Due to theft, a case barlow, Kabar USMC, Case large folder, Scharade fixed blade{my Favorite} a couple of Schrade fillets, a Schrade multitool. I hate thieves. Not only did someone steal my knives they tested them out by slicing my truck seats.

recliners/lazy boys (a.k.a stealin boys) have gobbled up a few of my tools, I would turn the sneaky thing/chair over and make it cough em up!
