I have been working on a knife all day and put it down for just a second to answer the phone and then I went to what I call "my office" to answer a call of another kind and now, for the life of me I can't find the knife. Have any of you seen it?:D

Sorry Mark, I haven't seen it. I have seen your website however. Once in a while I come across someone who's talent I'm just amazed by. I don't know how you did that snakeskin handle, but man that is impressive.

It's called "tool warp"
It went into a different dimension but if you go work on a different knife, the first one will magically re-appear. It happens in my shop way too often. :D

if you find the place it went, see if you can find all my missing miss matched socks.
i know my damn cat knows where they are, (he can see in there) but he's not telling...

Hate it happened to you....if you find the skinner blade I lost this October let me know, as I did the same dang thing. Polished, ready to put a handle on, sitting on my bench.....gone...never found. I am seriously wondering if a raccoon got it, as they come in my shop through the window where my exaust fan is, and wreck havock in there from time to time. And yes, 'coons love the bright shiny stuff, so it is not out of the bounds of possibility.

Good luck...hope you find it.

if your brother -in law is hanging around you might ask him
buzz

You got to be some kind of psychic, the knife is for him. Ssshhh, it's for his 50th birthday. The rest of you are just too funny. I did find it after about twenty minutes of waisted time, it was by the Bridgeport, didn't even think I went over there. Here's some pictures

I sometimes use old factory blades to test new design ideas, some of you will recognize this as a Rambo III designed by Gil Hibben. I found it at a garage sale with the handle knocked off and the blade all scabbed-up. So I have been thinking of using some of these design elements in my next big Bowie. It has an elk handle with rattlesnake inlay and the sheath has rattlesnake skin, horn-back gator scales and horse tail tassles. I really like some of these elements, the rifle stock shape of the handle, the "S" shaped guard and butt cap will be used later as well as the reptile stuff on the sheath. I will come up with some kind of snake skin pattern to put in the damascus for it. I always distinguish these aftermarket mods. from my custom knives in that there will be no serial number, no certificate of authenticity and if I put my name on it, it goes on the "off" side. These rebuilt knives always go to the family. I have conspicuously not shown the blade in these pictures because it is not mine. Thanks for looking at it. Mark

Thank you very much for the nice comment, I have been thinking of doing a "How to" WIP on scaly handles, what do you think? BTW, that rattlesnake knife you commented on is supposed to be in a Blade Magazine Feature sometime soon. Thanks again Mark

Glad you found it & posted pics. Very nice. Really like the handle!

:D:DMy best story on losing something was with a unique piece of stag that the customer had given me for a handle. I searched my shop for 2-3 hours before I realized that it had been carried off by a pack rat. I didn't find the stag but the bag of cucumbers that had been given me the day before by a neighbor which had layed next to the last known location of the stag had the telltale tooth marks of the culpret so it was obvious what had happened. Who'da thunk it.

Very nice knife. I did hear Taps playing a little while ago, then it suddenly stopped and I heard revelry.

Mark, do you have any more sisters? Being in your family obviously has some huge benefits! :) Yes, please do a "How To", I'd love to see how you do it.

This is the forth family knife (they seem to like them), no sisters at all (sorry), it's my wife's brother. Ok then, I will do a WIP on scaly handles soon.

Raccoons and rats are the one you guys blame:D, I don't have any of those up here. Usually when someone farts, I blame the dog, when something isn't where I left it, I blame either my wife or the nice old lady that helps me at my store. Niether one of them were handy at the time. Thanks for the comments. Mark

Those are some nice accessories on the blade. like it was said. Some of you guys amaze the hell outa me.

BTW how big was the bear in your Avatar?

Thanks for the kudos, the bear was one of the biggest ones I have guided for(in a prior life, I am retired from that now) That one was 10 feet, had a skull just under 28 inches. It was fighting for a sow when we found them. The biggest one I guided for had a skull that was 29 10/16. I have pictures of it but they don't look good in the avatar. Mark

Wow that boy is big. One of my Bucket List Items is to Bow hunt one. That may be more a Suicide list though. I would definitely have to become a much better hunter for sure.
