Can anyone help me? I was out of town and going on an airplane home. I forgot I had my knife in my purse and mailed it home and the USPS lost it. I have had it for 10-15 years and would like to buy another one, but forgot the manufacture. Any suggestions or if you can recognize it?https://i.postimg.cc/prTXjPk4/knife.jpg

Hi sharon, I cant seem to open the link, do you mind trying again?

If I'm the only one having issues opening it let me know please!

I can help with the pic.

If that's a logo on the side of the handle a larger pic might make identification easier.

There's always the possibility that the knife is too generic to identify. It's also possible that the knife is no longer being produced. If you're looking for an alternative replacement I'm sure that there are many similar, inexpensive options available. The members here will be happy to recommend some.

It looks like one of those old gun show/ swap meet fake Spydercos. That plastic opening stud looks familiar to me along with the shape of the knife. I haven't seen one in 15 or 20 years.

I don't go to flea markets much anymore but that is where I'd look first. Gun shows are another option but paying $10 to see if what you want is still even available doesn't make much sense.

You can try one of Spyderco's Byrd line. They are built better and have better materials but cost a bit more than that old one did. It's probably the best option other than trying to get a replacement for a knife that might not even exist now.

Good luck.

Joe

If you are interested in a replacement, and you are fond of lightweight folding lockback knives with thumbstuds, I'd recommend the Buck 112 Slim Select. Buck is an old American company, and they make high-quality knives. The 112 Slims are made in the USA and come with a great "Forever warranty". They come in a variety of handle colors and cost between $30 and $40 dollars. 3 inch blade. It might be a little larger than the knife in your pic.

Hi there, Sharon:)

Like others have said, that looks like a Frost Cutlery style of knife. They are almost universally inexpensive and go in and out of production as orders are changed from factory to factory in China. You could easily find one very similar on any of the shopping sites or even at a flea market/knife show.

It will not be the exact same make and model, but it should be close. Of course, glass half full, now could be the time to upgrade a bit:) What do you look for in a knife? What kind of chores are you needing it to be used for?

Those are still pretty common and inexpensive. At least in my region.
Usually $5 or less at the local flea markets. If it's not purely for sentimental reasons why you want to replace it, it'd second the suggestions to look at the Spyderco and Byrd lines. Similar design features, but much better quality and materials. Best wishes finding a suitable replacement.

It does look like one of those Spyerco Delica copies to me. Last time I saw one was at the check out counter of the auto parts store. It may have had a key chain on it too.

As others in this thread mentioned, you can get an original Spyderco which will serve you very well. :D

Excellent suggestion.

Her lost one looks like a mid-lockback, other than Spydies, anyone have any good budget recommendations for mids? I'm kind of curious myself.

The Cold Steel Air-Lite was my first thought.

But that's probably because I've had my eye on one for a while now. It's a little bigger than her Frost, with a cutting edge of 3.5". Street price is about $85, so I'm not sure that counts as "budget" for a lot of people. I think I can do better with sticking to the list....
