Lost knives

When I was 8 or 9, my Dad gave me an Imperial Kamp King. It was stolen out of my locker at school and that was replaced with a stockman I found at a rummage sale. This one had a spear master blade and grey celluloide scales. Don't remember the maker, but it was my constant companion for years until some drip stole it. Now I have a box full of knives, but those two I miss.

When I was growing up I was very outdoors oriented as was my whole family. As such I had many knives. Some I purchased, others were given to me. At the time, I never thought too much about them, but I miss them now.
1) An official BSA Wenger with the funky Packlock. I purchased a Vic Champion to replace it because it had more tools and was cooler. I've since traded the Champion and don't miss it. But the Wenger? You bet.

2) I was issued a Camillus "demo knife" that at the ripe old age of 18 I thought was junk. After all, I owned several real knives. Well, after 4 years at sea, that Camillus was abused beyond belief and kept coming back. Whatever became of it? Don't know.

Oh, the losses! Some punk broke into my car and stole my work duffle bag which had a Gerber LMF in it. AAGGHHH! Then there was the Case Sodbuster that went AWOL.

When I left the Infantry, I gave my LMF to a buddy I thought could use it more than I. Maybe it's time to look him up and see if he still has it.

My father once told me that he had "lost" a Randall Model 1 in an NVA soldier's gut when things had gotten a little close. He bemoaned the loss because he had purchased it the day I was born.

My first knife! It was a puuko form Bodo Norway- I had to earn it by filleting a fish by myself- as my dad had to to get it from his uncle. I went gopher hunting one day, put the knife (and a couple of others) in a bucket and went into the bush for a little while. When I came back I found the bucket spilled and no signs of the knife- All I can think of was that the cows ate it!! I looked for hours with no luck. So if anybody knows where to get a puuko with a sheath in the shape of a fish and the handle as the head of the fish let me know PLEASE!! Or else I can make a replacement for it one day- my daughter will be old enough for it soon (read she is 1 on Sun. and growing too fast- almost 18 now)

I once had a little 3" clip-point fixed blade with jigged bone handles that I got for Christmas when I was about 13 - my first fixed blade. I can't recall the brand.

My car was broken into when I was in grad school in Buffalo about ten years ago. They got the CD player, the change in the cupholder, a few cheap hand tools . . . and the knife. The stolen knife was the only item whose loss still bothers me.

My very first hiking campout with my scout troop (Stanley Canyon on the Air Force Academy, if you are familiar with it), I found a Camillus large stockman laying along the edge of the trail. I gave it to my Scoutmaster and after failing to find the owner, he gave it back to me. I used that thing for the rest of my scouting career. Once while on a trip to Philmont, I almost sliced my leg open across the top of the thigh. As it was, that magical blade only cut denim and left me unscathed.

After I left for college and then the Navy, my parents consolidated all the stuff in my room and the knife was never found again. I suspected my little brother, but could never prove it.

WOW! My dad had that knife but lost it while fishing and I still have the sheath! I saw one on ebay awhile back.

My step-dad had a filet knife exactly like that. If he still has it, I'll see if there are any markings to identify the maker or point of origin.

I was thinking last night what a great thing it would be if we could reunite somebody with their long, lost knife. Wouldn't that be a hoot?

Back in the 70s while in college, I was hitch-hiking cross country from Yosemite to the east coast. There was one ride from Desmoines to Indianapolis where my little Buck Stockman was no longer with me. It must have dropped out of my pocket.

Funny thing was when I was living in Denver in the 80s....while taking a walk in Bear Creek Park, I came across another Buck Stockman that was exactly like my original knife.

Wow- This is one reason I love this forum- nobody I know has ever seen this knife yet 2 of you guys have!! Any info on it will be greatly appreciated!!

i had a small 4-5" fixed blade knife ,that was only a blade and my Dad made a handle from some leather ,like stacked leather washers and the made a nice lil' sheath for it and hand drawn a snake on it, o'course being young (8yrs old) i did think much about it and used it all the time, now that i am way older and have a son, i think about the knife that was my 1st. and doing the same for my son, i bought him a '70's model buck 102 and gave it to him this spring he is 9 and he thinks he is so big with it strapped to his side as i am sure i thought i was also....

I lost a small classic Sebenza with my initials engraved on it over a year ago. That really sucked.

Either of my two Benchmade Bluestars. I loved those knives.
My DE ultratech and my Halo III come a close second. Incidentally, those knives were all stolen by the same person who had a habit of robbing me. The only knife he stole that I ever got back was a Benchmade CF D2 941. It sucks when your 'family' is willing to steal from you.

I just gave my son a Mora clipper to wear on his butt pack during our walks. He was waiting for me outside with his "gear" on and I looked out the window and saw him doing these leg stretches and being very obvious about adjusting the sheath on his belt and trying to act very casual about the whole thing and he was talking to somebody that I couldn't see. I came out and he was talking to our neighbor's daughter, a little cutie two years older than him. Here's my son, kid had to start shaving when he was 10, all puffed up in front of this girl...I almost said, "thanks for holding my knife, son." That would've pulled the carpet out from under him, wouldn't it?

Jeez, man. Get a safe or get a new family or get a CCTV camera or an electrified security fence surrounded by a minefield surrounded by rabid Belgian Malinois surrounded by the Sixth Infantry Division. If somebody had stolen those knives from me, the police would have found that they had fallen down the stairs and landed on the stolen knives...two or three times. Sorry about your luck.
