Lost my Delica - got a DK Pen knife...ohh my!

They are about $155 CDN out here. Against my better judgement (as if I had such a thing:) ), I just ordered one a few minutes ago and it looks like I'll be getting it - just got the confirmation email.

Quick note to Sal: Hopefully I'm adding to the "demand" side of things:) I think that's makes Spydie #5 ( 4 Delica 4's plus the DKPK) in about as many weeks:D That should push my Spydie part of the collection over 20'ish:)

Yup - read that:) I'm going to take a real close look when mine shows up as well. I really do prefer lanyards wherever possible. Finding wire stiff enough may be an issue, though. I wonder if you could take something like piano wire and bend to the right shape.........could be an interesting little project:)

Ooops..just got another email from my vendor - Dang:mad: They are unable to get the DKPK for me - Canada Customs wouldn't allow it in. On the upside, though, I can use that money to get one of the ZDP Delicas:) or maybe an Endura 4.....or.......

Or the upcoming Caly3, which is identical, but has been added a lock. In other words - it's a "US Pen Knife" :)

Yes - that too:D From what I could figure out, the ZDP Caly never made it into the CDN marketplace so I missed out, but I did find two gray Caly Jrs in the "hunt":) Hopefully the ZDP Delica will it here and also, the Caly 3 will be a full production run.

Excuse my ignorance but I didn't know a DK pen knife excisted.
Are there some other pen knives besides the dkpk and ukpk?

What's the diff between the two
(I know I'm to lazy to search for it, what I normaly do)

forget my previous posts, was just to lazy --- sorry

I understand the lock being part of the illegality of other knives

Actually I don’t get it
Can’t you hurt someone with a non locking blade.
Is it impossible to stab with a non locking blade?

One can’t use a save tool (locking folder) because it’s a more dangerous weapon.
It’s just stupid.

Correct.;)

Edit: that is on the difference between DKPK & UKPK. I could comment on the illegality, but I won't.

Canadian Customs won't allow a non-locking pen knife into the country? Not even one that's not designed to be opened one-handed?

Were you told, "Sorry, it's against the Law." Or did they try to give you some sort of an excuse as to why not?

Here's the return email:

Gordon,

Thanks so much for your recent order with us - we appreciate you shopping with us.

We are sorry to tell you that we are unable to supply you with the item you ordered - the Spyderco Pen Knife. This item should not have appeared on our site and has now been taken off. Canada Customs considers this type of knife to be a prohibited weapon so we are not able to bring it into Canada.

Sure baffled me:eek: This is basically a slip joint as far as I'm concerned and is no different in operation to the Canadian Pride, which I bought locally. My understanding was that there were only 300 made, so if they simply would have said "Can't get it" or something else close, I would have been OK with that. It won't stop me from ordering from them, though. They have been really good to deal with up to this point. I have a Sharpmaker (all of you talked me into buying one:) ) and a Buck Northshore coming this week. I was going to order an Endura 4 SE today, but I think I'm going to get that at Target Knives in the next couple of days - I forgot to get myself one the last time. I'm really hoping he can lay his hands on a ZDP Delica for me.... Rowland mentioned that he got a bunch of Byrds in, so I guess I should drop by and see what he got:D With any sort of luck, he'll have sold that Lone Wolf Harsey T2 that winked at me the last time:)
