Lost my first knife...

Went fishing yesterday and I decided to bring out the good ol tenacious. It was my first "good" knife that I bought when it was first released which was like... 6-7 years ago?
Anyways, left the blade stabbed into the wood shown in the picture.
A plastic bag flew off the pier and I turned around to catch it. Instead of catching the plastic bag, I knocked off my knife and down it went into the ocean...

Good bye first knife! :(

Uggh, that sucks! I lost two salts within a month of each other last year. It makes it even worse when you donkey it like that! (which I did with BOTH of mine) It's somehow comforting to know that they are sitting on the ocean floor still rust free.

Hopefully you caught some fish. The ocean giveth and the ocean taketh away. Today was for giving. :D

Dude, get some gear on and dive down to find it! You may also find Surfingringo's two salts!

That's a bummer. I lost a good pair of sunglasses off the top of my hat one time. Forgot they were up there and I went to take off my hat and bloop, down they went to the bottom of the Atlantic. I never take a nice knife with me when I go fishing. Always a cheap folder that I find in the cheap basket at your local bait shops, or a cheap fixed blade.

Nice fish! Is that a mahi mahi?

I'm just glad that it was a cheap knife. Had some good memories with that tenacious!

I would suggest getting one of those stretchy things that look like a old phone cord or some sort of retractable cord and attach it to your belt loop.

I have several of the Tenacious, Persistence, and Resilience line. I prefer to think of them as 'inexpensive' instead of 'cheap'. Whatever way you think of them, they are great value for the money.

I just ordered a byrd hawkbill for use in the garden for the same reason of being a "budget" knife that I can be a little more rough with. It would still suck to lose it though! :(

I have never cough cough lost a knife in the ocean like that. Yeah, right! I lost my favorite pocket knife like that. Once, while fishing near a glacier in Alaska, the guide got us too close to some rocks and I had to push us off. A big wave came just as I was straddling between the two and in that ice cold water I went. My knife and camera are now at the bottom of the ocean up there. O, and did I mention that the water was coooolllldddd!? There were chunks of ice floating in the water and it was freezing.

On the bright side of your loss is the prospect of buying a new Spyderco :) That is never a bad thing.

I was using an antique floating fish knife and a seagull picked up the scabbard and flew around in circles with it. I tried to scare it while it was over the pier to make him drop it. The bird dropped it directly over the rail where it bounced several times and fell in the water. The bird could have snatched my bait but it took the sheath instead.

A month ago I dropped my sebenza, had no idea where, and a complete stranger returned it to my work.

Yeah you don't even have to buy scuba gear just rent the cheap stuff. :)
