  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Lost my first knife...

Dude, get some gear on and dive down to find it! You may also find Surfingringo's two salts!

Ahem, and while you're down there, keep your eyes open for a couple of gaffs, an ugly stick with a Penn reel, 3 pairs of sunglasses, numerous pairs of needle nose pliers, an entire pedal drive for a Hobie kayak. I'm just saying...keep your eyes open. ;)

You forgot the old shopping cart :P

Hasn't anyone ever tried to invent some type of floating device that you can clip into your knife's lanyard hole for fishermen? Just thinking you could make some type of bouy about the size of a golf ball attached to some string. If your knife falls in the water just go and wait by the beach until the tide brings it in :D

Sure you can, and I used one for awhile. What I found was that it inevitably got in the way and was a nuisance on the small kayak. I tried a lanyard attaching knife to boat with the same results. Being able to use the knife properly in the moment trumps security for me. I do my best to be careful with em but if a fellow can't be ok with losing an occasional piece of gear in the ocean, then kayak fishing may not be the right activity. :D Other than that one bad week last year I'm doing fine.

Dammit, I thought I'd come up with a solution for fishermen everywhere and to make my fortune, back to the drawing board :p

btw S/G, are you interested in the Spyderco Autonomy. Looks like it could be right up your street or should that be on the crest of your wave? Sorry for steering the thread in a different heading :)
