Lost my large sebenza 25 micarta

I feel your pain.

I hurt if I loose a budget beater knife. If I lost something like a CRK knife.... just .... my heart goes out to you, my friend.

I have one CRK and it is, for all intents and purposes, irreplaceable. It is 1 of 7 made on the day my daughter was born, and I lucked out and found it on the exchange here 10 months after she was born. I have yet to see another one with the same date.

That being said, it is still a knife and due to that, I carry and use it. My daughter and the knife, are both just over 3 years old. Maybe one day it will be hers... By then, it will have a Lot more wear on it.

Perfect gift for 18th birthday.
Given she likes knives...

I would feel soo bad if i'd lose a CRK.
And i don't even own one.

man im so scared im gonna lose my sebenza i got it paracorded to a quick release attached to my belt lol . i always lose things and im not losing this knife / might sound stupid but it works with piece of mind . i was fishing on pier few weeks ago , for some reason it fell out of pocket as i was cutting bait . if not for the paracord it would have dropped right thru the planks .

Any update?

It took me over a year to get passed the OCD pocket pat to make sure it's still there, since I've taken to carryin' it in a leather slip sheath that I wet formed to the knife.

It is very difficult to misplace or not notice it's absent and it can't get hooked on the clip as I get out of the car or on the seatbelt. I feel your pain for sure. 4 years ago I lost 2 custom Pat Crawford knives, a pocket bowie Framelock with a one piece handle, a Crawford Key Claw and a Maserin Spirit in Ebony and Stamascus. They were in my wallet and I lost them with my Lock pick Jack and my Carbon Fiber Credit Card Ice Scraper.

Lost close to a grand in knives and lock picks that day and I never say it's lost, I still hold out hope that the wallet will turn up with the knives and money. I think the longest a knife went MIA was 5 years. I actively looked for 3 years and occasionally dragged the yard and creek in the yard lookin' for a first generation Benchmade Mini Reflex and a White Blackie Collins #13 0f 500 Buddy Knife with the thumbolt neck sheath. Found them both completely by chance and neither was where I was originally lookin' for them. The Blackie Collins was strapped to a crossbar on my 17' aluminum Grumman Expedition canoe and the Mini Reflex was on top of a box in the barn and under another. If I hadn't have moved the one box to get to something behind it the Mini Reflex would still be missin'.

Don't give up hope unless you saw it slip into the ocean off the abyss, even then I'd be tyin' rope together and lowerin' my giant stainless clad magnet onto the bottom. Hang in there, don't give up and I think I'm gonna go look for my Crawford in the barn again. ;)

The biggest reason I still hold onto and still greatly appreciate cheaper blades. When im out for a run, or if I'm traveling to the shore, or going to a cookout/party where there is a very good chance I might have a few too many adult beverages, I won't carry any knife worth over $75... I work too hard, and bad enough when I do spend $100+ a knife, I would hate having to spend it again to replace one.

Buck, Kershaw, crkt, kizlyar, mora, etc have all done me well in that regard, carrying cheaper while still very useable, when the risk of losing is increased well above average.

Hard lesson learned my friend, my sincerest sympathy.

I do like the idea of a paracord lanyard attached to something more secore via a quick clip or even a carabiner. I may just look into something like that for a few of my favs.

Oh man I'm bummed to hear the news! I lost a Lg Plain Reg Seb in 2005 in the Arkansas River. Luckily at the time I also had a mint safe queen "Stars and Stripes" CGG. I traded it that day for a Plain Jane (which I personally prefer). I really hope you find the 25 or find the means to replace it with an Inkosi!

I never clip an expensive knife to my pocket hiking. I've had too many pulled out by brush, as I pass by. I use a belt sheath and clip a cheaper knife to my pocket for quick cuts of thorn brush that needs trimmed back. Just something to consider, when you're active in the outdoors.

Thanks for the replies. I did take the 40 minute drive back to the park and looked about an another hour. The problem is that I was riding a bike. Big mistake!! Do not carry a pocket knife on a bike because the up and down gyrations while seated and pedaling is not ideal. Sadly, I've only just figured this out. Now the question is not whether or not to replace. Not replacing may force me to carry and use my other knives more. Also, how comfortable are you guys carry out expensive knives. My next expensive knife is a ZT0392 but I don't carry much for fear of losing it.

Just carry your knives. Who are you saving them for? You will die and your kid might sell it to a pawn shop. Then some yahoo will buy it for 50$ break the blade and throw it in the trash. YOU USE IT!

Here's a little tip, when you're biking I clip my knife to the inside of my shit because it is more noticeable.

I live in Canada where a cop can take your knife from you at any time for no reason and you have no recourse. The reason can be that they like it and want to steal it. (Don't worry, they're gunna do YOU a favour and not write this one up.) I have to make peace with the fact that any knife I carry is liable to get confiscated. That don't stop me though, I'm rocking my large Inkosi shamelessly. If you don't find your 25 you should look at the Inkosi.

Best of luck though, I hope you find it.

Ouch! In all the decades (more than 5!) of carrying knives, I have only lost or had 3 or 4 stolen. But, once bitten, twice shy. I have an assortment of knives that I carry for different tasks and activities. Some of my upper end knives I can't replace because they aren't made anymore, and I don't have the money to replace them anyway. Other priorities in life now.

There are many, many good knives out there from different manufacturers that are not only nice, affordable knives, but plenty hard working, too. Those allow my favorites to be safe from damage from hard use, loss or theft.

Ok you are fascinating me way too much today. Can you elaborate on this one piece handle bowie titanium framelock. What do you mean by one piece handle? As in integral like the Sr-1 or the BM Anthem?

Also I wasn't joking earlier, that tin knife isn't tin is it?

Sorry to hear about that. A couple months ago I lost some important personal sentimental gear of my own including knives. It took weeks and weeks not to think about it everyday.
So sorry..... :(

Oh man, I hate that for you. I know the feeling. I lost a very pricey William Henry about three years ago. Really sucks.

Doesnt that make the knife messy?

Is it the smell that makes it so noticeable?

Honestly if you're sweating enough that your chest and thus the knife clipped to your collar is soaked; then your pockets are probably soaked through too anyway.

Ideally you will wear a backpack and put your knife in there.

Maybe you can borrow (or rent?)
someone's metal detector (for the beach?)...
It would hopefully pick up on the blade...
I am sorry, man...

No no. I get what you meant. I used to be an avid road cyclist (you know, the spandex guys) and kept a light knife in a jersey pocket.

I was joking because in your post you had left the "r" out of shirt. So in your suggestion the knife is clipped to....

It's one way to make sure other people don't ask to borrow your knife to cut their sandwich.
