I have worked very hard to downsize and simplify my life overall. Mostly, I try to be less attached to "stuff". My knife collection now consists of 8 CRK folders. And a small collection of 4 Bud Nealy's, and a few odds and ends. My attachment to my Sebenzas and two Inkosis remains very strong. I would be sick if I lost one. I did have one fall out of my pocket a few years ago. I was on vacation, in a very crowded tourist trap when I thought I heard something clunk on the hardwood floor. I looked down but didn't see anything. Before I could do my usual patdown, my daughter reached under a clothing rack and pulled my Small 21 out from underneath it. She heard it too and said she knew immediately what happened. Other things I've dropped and, luckily, always recovered also. I feel your pain. For me, I have always collected quality stuff. I recall reading any magazines I could find and thinking that someday I'd be able to own "fill in the name of knife". The Gerber Guardians, A.G. Russell Sting, and Al Mar Eagle were my Holy Grails. I could go on and on, but I'll wrap it up by saying I really hope it turns up. I'd be crushed. Sending you some good karma.
