I'll keep my fingers crossed that your front lawn or 'other' pants are keeping your Sebbie company 'till you find it. I have never lost a knife but based on earlier descriptions, I can see how it could get snagged on a coat as you were taking it off (or on) and come out. Not hearing a 'clunk' or something is a mystery. That's why I suggested the front lawn. Most schools have the hard linoleum floors and unless you were distracted by some young female student or something, it would seem likely you'd hear it hit the floor. Regardless, my condolences...
