Lost my temper

i am making a 2nd amendment from 5160 and got the handle wraped "JT Wrap" and proceded to sharpen it. it seamed to be a little harder to sharpen but i use diamond so it was ok. i then tested the edge for chiping with brass. and with a lot of preshure it would chip, crap. so i realized i needed to re temper but at what temp. i then relized that i might not have tempered it at all . so i tested the edge with a sharp file, would not even scratch it. i had to cut off the handle wrap.

Man,that just sucks-but it could've been worse,like you realized you forgot to temper after you glued scales on(not that I would know or anything:grumpy

well when you consider it takes me 2 hrs to wrap that handle its still sucks. the worst thing would have been if i sent it out that way. i would do anything to make shure things are right befor shipping.

You realize that with any steel, with enough pressure, it will chip.
