Well kinda "lost" it...

So it was my nephews birthday and we had a big bbq with all the close family today. My leatherman wave came in handy many times throughout the afternoon and I ended up leaving it with my father.

He's not a knife guy which i've never understood and somewhat bothered me. Well to keep this short, we had a giant beef tenderloin on a rotisary over the grill. First time using the new rotisary (that was a gift from me) and we used the wave pliers to adjust the hot thumb screws several times as the beef cooked, at one point early on we had to tie more string, which is when the knife was used. I could tell he was pretty impressed with it, just having it that handy and in my pocket.

Then it was time for the nephew to open his gifts, I used the wave's knife several times to cut zipties, tape, boxes. Used the philips to open a battery case on a new toy.

Cracked open a few beers througout the day with the bottle opener...

Later in the evening my nephews wanted to roast marshmallows so I cut and cleaned up some sticks for them.

After that we took them for a walk back into the woods where they found a old fort I probably built 15years ago as a kid. Used the saw to cut some big branches to make a roof over the old fort for the kids.

The wave came in useful so many times on just another day, as it always does. Anyhow, my father took notice and used it throughout the day, and when he asked where I had picked it up I just told him to hang onto it for a few weeks and use it, that i've got another back home (which i dont!). I'm glad I gave it to him, its a big step for me to get him to carry a multi/knife.

I used that leaterman a lot and loved it, now I have to run out tomorrow and get another as I can't go a day without. Was good to give it away even though I miss it already. I'm just glad I could convert somoene else to be one of us.

The best kind of white lie. Good job!

Great story. I have gifted many knives, Sharpmakers and especially Leatherman Waves to good friends down on their luck or missionaries who quickly became good friends. It is a good pain that you get after you part company.

Great story, that would be a good one for you to post on Tool tales.

Enjoyed reading your story, good to see someone else converted, to the value of having a good tool/knife around.
