Lost Techno - Really Sad :(

We were out in Glamis area last weekend riding our RZR's in the dunes. I was wearing a thinner pair of pants and had my Techno clipped in my right pocket. I guess when pulling out my car keys it got pulled loose. Every time I think about it I get a weird feeling in my stomach. I loved everything about that knife!!! I did try to find it, but the titanium looks just like the dirt we were on. All my other knives just don't feel the same as my beloved Techno.

NEVER will I clip a knife anymore. I guess I need to keep an eye on the exchange.

BYE BYE Techno :(

I know how you feel, and it sucks. I bought a Native 5 G-10 from the Spyderco outlet back in 2010/11. It was my only knife, I carried it every day. March 2015, two weeks before my birthday. It's gone! I can't even tell you when/where I lost it, but I turned my world upside down for two weeks looking.. (Still haven't found it.)

This one loss turned my need for a pocket knife into a need for all pocket knifes!!!! I first needed to find another Native 5. After browsing around, and almost pulling the trigger on one. I came across this WTS ad on a website called "bladeforums" (I'm sure you've heard of it.) I joined this elite site, on the prowl for this WTS ad. A Native 5 g-10 collectors number 030. I normally don't care about "numbers" but my 30th birthday was days away, and it seemed ironic number 30 of that knife could be mine! Few quick emails, and it was on its way!
Fast forward 8 months, and 12 Spyderco knifes later. I have gone from a man content with one well made knife, to owning more then I can carry and a wish list an arms length long!

Hold in there. Your next knife will find you.

Ouch...I know the sick feeling when you loose a knife. And a Techo...oh damn, that really hurts.

I hope you find a good deal on the exchange soon.

Dang. I nearly lost mine twice in similar fashion.

For such occasions, I now clip it in the waist band facing in.

I feel your pain, I lost a digi camo para 2 about a year ago. Although time has past i still feel a little sick thinking about it.

Sad to hear this. I wonder if the size and tension of the clip is a possible cause.

I've been lucky so far and not lost any of my Spydercos. I have dropped a few and discovered them soon after the drop. And I have misplaced a few other brands but I rarely lose anything on hikes or camping anymore. One thing I learned about clipped knives is that they require constant checks. If you sit down, feel for the knife before you get up. Getting in and out of cars, do a quick check.
In the yard while doing work I must check my pocket 20 or so times during the duration. It's a habit I got into many years ago. And now I do checks and don't realize I'm doing them unless I realize I'm missing something.
I do this with my wallet and phone too. Always checking.
I think if I rode ATV's Id either not carry anything clipped or I would be checking before and after or even during rides. But that's just me.

Good luck

EDIT: so I read this thread and my response to my wife who retorted (about my incessant checks). "And it drives me crazy!!!" She went on to explain that we'd be somewhere in public and she would look over at me, and there I am feeling myself. Doing a pat down of myself in public. Lol. Glad to know I can get under her skin from time to time. Yeah me!! Lol

Try looking in unusual and hidden places in your car/suv. It is amazing how a knife can fall out of your pocket and be in the door compartment, the step by the seat, in a corner under the seat, next to the seat belt anchor on the floor, etc.

That really sucks. I've lost knives for a day or two and then they turn up. But I know the feeling of losing one and its not fun. Hope it turns up, if not best of luck with finding a replacement.

sorry to hear this,as i think most of us hear have lost knifes this way! i now devote my clipped knifes to right-side and change/keys to other pocket, its been working so far!

My knives all ride clipped in my front-right pocket. Never any trouble. Have lost a knife with no clips yrs ago.

I've lost several while clipped. Delica, Original BM CQC7, latest was a new BM 32 mini morpho @$200+, ouch.

I had been lucky for years til October 2014 when my EDC serrated Police model disappeared. I thought sure it would've turned up by now since I last saw it while I was working in/around a garage at my parents' place. Like someone else said, at least it's not a discontinued model or one-of-a-kind. Since I recognize these events do happen, you'll likely never find me carrying around something like a $400 Sebenza!

man, I feel your pain. Lost my first Spydie - CF Chaparral after only a couple weeks at a chain pizza joint of all places. clipt to the coin pocket, but slid out sneaky style whilst I slouched in the booth. Didnt notice til after grubbing - wandered back in asking if someone had turned in my knife, and immediately got the 'serial killer on the loose' looks, plus nada recovered... Compensated by copping another Chap plus a Sage1, which triggered off the 'by a new Spydie each week' madness, so all in all it worked out to my benefit (maybe). Whoooooo!

Really sorry you lost your Techno. I've posted a few times over the last couple of years, here and elsewhere, how the Techno is my favorite EDC folder but ultimately I had to re-tension the clip, and roughen the surfaces where the scale meets the clip since it came out of my pocket a couple of times too (both times in chairs at home thankfully). As another poster stated... it's weight, very smooth scales, and wire clip all conspire to dislodge it! My mods helped a lot and now carry it, but it still has a tendency to creep up in the pocket sometimes. *Sage 2's have this problem to a lesser degree as well.

At least due to it's continued popularity it's a mainstay at most online shops, and street prices have remained reasonable to good...so if you find you just gotta have another...it's available!

I have been contemplating selling one of my Busse knives to get another Techno.

Guess what?

I took the seats out of the RZR today to do an oil change. Guess what I found under passenger seat? TECHNO. I squealed with delight. Yes I squealed :).

I guess when I was fishing for my keys while sitting in the RZR the knife popped off my pants pocket. Never will I clip another knife.

So effing happy today. Woo Hoo. TECHNO!!!

My all time favorite knife.

Alright! I just read through this thread wondering why it got bumped up to the recent threads page, and am so relieved it is because you found it! Congrats.
