I see tons if threads on bk2s and 9s, but not a lot on the 7s. Is the 7 inferior in specs?

I like them all, I was in favor of my BK7 for a while but I have been using my BK2 more and more...

The 2 is the prybar and is impressive to behold. The 9 is the chopper and show stopper. The 7 is amazing, but middle of the road and therefore not always at the tip of everyones tongue. There is not a damn thing inferior about it.

Yeah I've noticed that too about there being more posts about the 2 and 9. Don't have a 2 yet but will very soon. No plans on getting a BK 7. Reason, I don't feel I need BK 7 already having a BK 9. No quality difference between them. Hell I don't even need a BK 2, but I want one. Maybe some folks who aren't that into knives will get an in between size like the BK 7 to have a big knife and be done with their shopping. I'll have 50 blades and pick what combo im gonna use depending on what I'm doing.

I have a couple friends like that, they"ll have one knife and use it for everything, guess what, they're both 7" inchers and neither are Beckers. It's cool though, They just make their one knife do everything.

If you are just going with one Becker (and let's be honest, that is just silly) you get a 7. If you are getting two, you get a 2 and a 9. Then a 14. Then a 5. Then another 2. Then...

i dunno... these days if someone had none and was going to buy something, i'd tell them to get the BK5... it's more knife than they've probably ever had, isn't too scary, or big. they'll use it a lot... especially in the kitchen. next thing you know, they wanna chop stuff. bam. BK09. whack whack whack. next thing you know, they wanna EDC... got three choices there, and the Eskabar BK14 bam! unless they are take of bEvERages a lot, then the BK11... and they wanna buy something for their SO, BK14 or BK13... and well, you know how it goes... you have them all. except a BK07 ;)

i still don't have a BK07, but mostly because it's "just right"... i have a million knives in that category. perhaps i should buy two as penance :) keep one in the car or something. or not. i dunno.

I have the BK7, 9, 5, 2, 14, 11. The 7 is a great knife. It really depends what else I have as to whether I carry the 7 or the 2. The 7 is actually lighter than the 2. If I have a 3.5-4" blade with me I am more inclined to carry the 7. If I'm going with a pocket knife, and hatchet combo, than the 2 gets picked. I say buy both and play.

When I first got my Beckers, I couldn't decide either ... Just made it easy :D

Now it's between ... (LOL)

I've never felt a need for the 9 because I already have a very large Becker. The 7 ?, I have a couple knives already that fill that role. So I've never bought these two. Maybe some day.... What I'm really waiting for are the Tweeners and Patrol Machete............ya baby !

the thing is that the sevenis in the middle.....it is a big knife to have that extra length for battoning and for chopping.......however not as big as the bk9 and it has only 10 buck in price difference..............it has a good size for camping chores having also the capability of batonning and light weight.......however the bk2 can do all that for a better price and without the weight of the bk7 all that in a smaller more versatile knife. so yeah the seven is the middle son that has a looot of benefits capabilities and points in favor just that his two brothers are albert einstein and the other in hercules.....

IMO the 7 and the 9 are too big

I have the 2 and am purchasing a Necker soon

Other than that I would want a Machete

I've actually been eyeballing the 7 for a while now. The 2 doesn't appeal to me (ducks and hides), and I already have more machetes, axes, and other large sharp things than I know what do do with. Small blade needs are covered by numerous folders, an Izula, and a Necker. Keep hoping the Necker and Izula will produce a litter of Eskabars, but no luck yet. The 7 will most likely be my next Becker, unless a Patrol Machete falls in my lap.

I agree with most others. If you already have the BK2, I don't see where the 7 is a huge benefit, might as well skip to the 9.

After handling the 2 and other knives, I just think it's more versatile. It seems like the two is a knife and anyone could agree on as a great go to survival knife. Anything is either too big or too small for the task at hand. JMOH

one thing that i seem to notice more on the 7 (and 10) than the 9, is the guard. it feels like it's bigger? i don't like guards. you can't slice things flush on a cutting board, like with the 5, or the 2. i hate guards. hate!

so perhaps this is more than a subconscious reason why i don't go near the 7

yours in philosophy and self-inspection (mmm, seven inches)
