Lots of 2s and 9s

I think that the BK7 is really there to fill the combat knife role in the Becker line-up. All of the most popular combat knives have blades than run around 7", give or take a little. Most service men don't want to carry something as large as the BK9, but they want more blade than 5" in the BK2. The BK7 also has the best tip design for penetration, as compared to the blunter profiles of the BK9 and BK2.

If I was in the service and going to carry a Becker, I'd carry the BK7 and the Necker.
 
I had a BK7 in 2003-2004 Iraq. And loved it. Most of our Medics got issued the BK2, and a buddy of mine had a BK9 over there. I think for that area the BK7 was great.

That is exactly why I went with the 2 instead of the 7: the guard. It hangs below the edge of the blade, whereas it doesn't on either the 2 or the 9. And I feel that way about the guard for the same reason you do, Bladite. The guard on the 7 is extraneous.

Man, I may be the oddball here (story of my life ;) ), but the BK7 is my favorite!

I didn't bother with the BK9, I love my BK2, but the 7 gets all the glory at Casa de MikeyJ.!!!

I think the 7 is a big knife, but not too big. I'm with you, though, with a preference for a smaller knife. I think there's definitely a division of preference - some guys like huge knives, some guys like smaller knives. That's why people either talk about the bk2 or bk9. I prefer smaller blades and got the 2, 7 and 11 when I purchased them. I still don't have a bk9, but it's on my short list of knives to buy.
 
I started this thread so I could figure out what Becker would join her BK9 sibling... would it be the fan favorite 2, or the 7 that I personally am leaning towards?

I think I've been spending too much time 'round these parts, cuz I just ordered both. :P
