LOTS OF FSH PICS!!!!! Fusion, yeah baby!

The reason that this whole thing about the grind bugs me is because I would have gotten a regular SH if I had known it was going to have a full grind. The way things were, I thought both would have similar slicing abilities. I guess that 's just not the case now. :(

Don't despair my friend. I don't think that has a full height grind. Take a closer look near the choil...the plunge line does NOT go to the top if I am seeing it correctly. The crinkle coat is obscuring the grind line making it look like full height grind. I called the shop about this and spoke to Jerry himself back in the ordering "season". They have the same angle grind and the standard is NOT full height. :)

Thanks Dunner. You just made my whole evening.
:D

I'm dying to know...

shanewormer, are you able to measure the stock thickness? Assuming origingal SHSH is .25" the FHS looks like it must be around .20".

Are you saying the fusions are thinner?

Nope, because I honestly don't remember what the webpage said last fall. I know the HOFSH is a guaranteed full 5/16". I never looked at the FSH section when they were offered...which is why I'm curious what it measures.

I remember the stats and Jerry posted that it was supposed to be full .250". He said the HOFSH might be as much as .320" ...am I sick for getting geeked up for another few 1/1000" over 5/16"?! Oh yes. I am sick indeed.

Here are some early FSH threads started by Jerry to get you all jacked up about getting your knife :D

In these links Jerry mentions full height grind on HOFSH and a higher grind on the standard FSH than most large knives have anyway! Also Jerry mentions HOFSH thickness as being somewhere between .315" to .320"!!! Holy Schnickies! :D

Can't stop clicking on the pics. That thing is a beauty! I added those pics to my growing collection of knife porn as well but click on them while lingering here in the forum waiting for more "wisdom"

Dark Nemesis, you got me thinking the same thing after taking another look at the thickness. Shane have you measured that?

If you would, can you snap a spine shot pic of the clip point?

I'll see what I can do.

I'll measure it and get back with ya'll.

As far as the grind goes, I have it here in person, and I can hardly tell if it's full grind or not. I know it's not supposed to be, and I think it's just a very subtle roll to the flat. Obviousely it's not a real sharp change from angle to flat, as you can tell by the pics. The pictures show it just the way it looks.

Shane

O.K., I just measured both Steel Hearts using a caliper.

The Fusion Steel Heart measures exactly .25" at the spine, immediately in front of the handles, before the blade starts. But once you get 1/2" past the handles, on the blade, it's only .23" at the spine.

My SHSH is thicker, but it does the same thing. Right past the handles, it's .26", then only .25" along the blade at the spine.

The new FSH looks vicious. 5/16 is a nice chunk of Infi. Rat camp tramp is only 23". Cool pics!

Congrats Shane!!! Sweet blade bro! :D

No one else gotten theirs yet?

I need more Steel Heart knife porn! :D probly wont see mine for another few weeks so the pics are a good standby! :p  :D
