I've been seeing alotta new names reading the threads in this forum lately... Welcome guys, feel free to chime in or even introduce yourself..we're all anxious to share and learn here... Best regards

I agree! I will revive the intros thread I started a while back. Fun stuff to learn a little about the people here.

Hi my name is Adam and I am a knife addict...

Not so much new, have posted some but not a lot. Mainly here to learn. This is a very helpfull forum and I enjoy it.

I haven't seen many new people? Must not be paying that great of attention, I will look at more of the names in the threads :)

I've been perusing the threads and even made a few posts, I guess I'm a knife knut also. I'm retired USAF and work in law enforcement, main interests are hunting, hunting dogs in particular, and fishing. I hope to learn a few things!

New guy reporting in!!

I originally came around looking to pickup a Ratweiler. I wound up with a Chopweiler which I'm looking forward to abusing when some nicer weather moves into my area. (And no I'm not a weather weenie, I'm just not too keen on exploring a new area in rainy weather when that area requires lots for fording.:D) And stuck around because I stumbled across the W&SS forum. Nothing like first hand info when you're a first time survival hiker.

Not new to BF, just don't post much in general. I believe if I don't have something useful or helpful to say I better not say it. I have always been into the outdoors. I enjoy camping, fishing and hunting. I spend most of my time in gadgets and gear, but lately have been creeping over to WSS. Everyone here seems nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. I am always up for learning something new and WSS provides me with that on an almost daily basis. Thanks for letting me participate.

Welcome to all the new folks! Gents, introductory posts are great, but introductory posts with wilderness + knife pics are even better.

All the best,

Hi, All,

Relative newcomer here. I originally came here looking for information about what knife would suit me best for all around use. I wanted something that, if it were my only knife, would do all that I required of it. Thanks to those of you here on Blade Forums, I narrowed it down to to The Fallkniven*F-1 and the Kabar/Becker BK-2. While I did like the Fallnkiven,*I chose the Becker instead because Kabar was a name I knew well (I grew up in the Marine Corps, then followed in the old man's footsteps till I got one too many owies and had to leave). Couple that with the fact that I'm semi retired and living on a small pension, and the cost of the Becker won out. I wouldn't have known about either of those knives without Blade Forums.

As I said, I'm semi retired ... but only semi. I'm an illustrator/designer (commercial artist for people old enough to know what that is). My website is http://www.dawsondoes.com if you want to see what I do.

Right now I'm old and semi lame, so I don't get out in the bush much right now. I'm hoping the VA can get me moving again, because I really miss wandering in the bush.

Thanks for having me here.

I guess I'll chime in here too. hello peoples.

Came here looking for a pocket knife, stumbled into the makers section and decided it looked like fun and gave it a shot. How else best to keep my reputation as being able to make anything? Anyways, currently an un-studying student, waiting for the next of a paramedic course to start. after which i would like to look into doing volunteer search and rescue as well. I help out with computers stuff when they get swamped and they pay me as a contractor, will likely get another job doing something outdoors this summer as soon as me knee stops bugging me. Did landscaping last year, but hurt me knee and had to stop. So there's my life story, compressed into a poorly structured paragraph.

I'm still really really new, but man I enjoy all the advice and experience of the posters here. I've learned a ton about being in the wilderness, products and even picked up some great books.

I don't do a ton of hiking and being out in the vast wilderness but my boys and me try and camp on our property at least every other week. We have a 18 foot tipi and try to make our fires without matches, purify our own water from our creek, make traps and just do general wilderness stuff every chance we get.

This is a very fun forum and great to read and pass the time. I don't post much because I haven't thought of anything to add that would help somebody else but that doesn't mean i don't appreciate all of you that do.

Thanks for a friendly place to hang around!

That's awesome. What a great environment for kids to grow up in. Good for you!

hi all, Bushman5 here, from BC Canada. I'm self employed, and when the weather is poor i dont work, so i go hiking day and night and paly with axes and knives and flashlights in the woods.

:) i'm not really new here though :D

Has anyone ever asked for a sticky intro thread? Something that new and old folks alike could post stuff about themselves just to get to know everyone better.

What part of Georgia??

Still a noob, I mainly hang out in Traditional folders and slippies. My avatar says it all. I posted a day hike picture thread and put it here, because that seemed like the place, but then I saw the sticky and could have put it there. I enjoy fishing and hunting, collecting and sharpening knives. I work outdoors in the Landscape Irrigation industry, so I am mainly in the weather, good or bad. I may be one of the noobs, the OP was referring to. Hello to all, and thanks for all the great info, it is great stuff.
